Why Millie Bobby Brown Won’t Watch ‘Harry Potter,’ Marvel, or DC Movies
Millie Bobby Brown is known for her role as Eleven on one of Netflix’s most popular sci-fi series, Stranger Things. And she currently stars in the epic monster fantasy film Godzilla vs. Kong.
But as it turns out, the actor isn’t a huge fan of the genre. And Brown recently revealed why she’s never seen any Harry Potter, DC, or Marvel films.
Millie Bobby Brown is a romance fan
Brown has appeared in several sci-fi projects. At age 10, she took one one of her first — BBC’s paranormal series, Intruders. And she’s slated to star in and executive produce a fantasy film for Netflix called Damsel.
But for someone who’s attached to so many dark, fantasy-based projects, Brown isn’t much of a fan. And in a recent chat with MTV News, the Stranger Things star revealed that she hasn’t seen any films from the popular Harry Potter, DC, or Marvel franchises.
“I’ve never watched Harry Potter,” Brown admitted. “I know, I know I know. I have so many friends that look at me just like, ‘How?’ I’m like, ‘I dunno.’
“I have never watched a Marvel film ever and I’ve never watched a DC film,” she added. “Yeah, news I know. It’s not [my thing] but I’m open to it, you know? It’s not like I’m just [opposed]. I’ve just never been like, ‘Oh I’m gonna put on this film.’”
So what does Brown like to watch? She suggested she’s into realistic films.
“I’m more into like The Notebook,” Brown revealed. “You know, let’s put on some romance films. I’m doing that [sci-fi] stuff already. I want to see stuff that’s real.”
Millie Bobby Brown’s favorite film is a Disney Channel Movie
In 2018, while doing a live Instagram chat with fans, Brown revealed that one of her favorite movies of all time is the 2013 Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM), Teen Beach Movie. The actor was around 9-years-old when the film was released.
In her live session, she sang some of her favorite songs from the movie, which include “Falling for Ya” and “Surf’s Crazy.” And when one fan tried to tell her she was getting details of the film wrong, she quickly defended her love for it, saying, “Don’t question me on my Teen Beach Movie.”
The DCOM stars Ross Lynch — he recently appeared as Harvey Kinkle in Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina — and Maia Mitchell — she currently plays Callie Adams Foster in Freeform’s Good Trouble. The film was such a hit, it spawned a sequel in 2015 called Teen Beach 2. Teen Beach Movie is available to stream on Disney+.
She’s still working on ‘Stranger Things’ season 4
Due to the pandemic, production on Stranger Things season 4 was delayed. The series is in the final stages of filming, which means fans may see Brown return as Eleven by the end of the year.
Brown’s latest project Godzilla vs. Kong hit theaters on March 24. It is currently streaming on HBO Max.
