Why Prince Harry Said That He and Meghan Markle Will Not Have Many Kids
From the moment Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot in May, the chatter about the former Suits star getting pregnant was in full swing with everyone wanting to know when they were going to have a royal baby.
We know that the couple wants kids as each of them already expressed how much they want to start a family. During their recent trip to Dublin though, Harry made it clear that they weren’t going to have a lot of children.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were being greeted by fans and well-wishers in the country when one woman asked Harry about their baby plans and got a surprising answer from the prince.
According to People, the woman named Elaine Adam-Stewart said to the royal, “My husband also has red hair and he gave me five children — when are you and Meghan going to get going?” Elaine’s husband, Simon Stewart, was not there with her when she greeted the couple but her five children Nathan, 10, Adelaide, 8, Malachy, 7, Siwan, 5, and Portia, 22 months, were.
She told the publication that Harry laughed and replied, “Five children? Too many.”
Markle and Harry have been asked the kid question since their first joint interview just after they announced their engagement in November. “I think eventually, one step at a time and we’ll start a family in the near future,” the prince said. And before he met Markle, he made it clear that being a dad is something he’s always wanted, telling ABC News, “I’ve longed for kids since I was very, very young. I’m waiting to find the right person. Someone who is willing to take on the job.”
Markle too has been vocal about wanting to be a mother. “I dream to have a family,” she said during an interview with Lifestyle magazine in 2016. “It’s all about balance, and I have so much happiness in my career and am fortunate to travel the world and see so many amazing things — it will also be nice to be anchored to something grounded and in the same place. Raising a family will be a wonderful part of that.”
Moreover, during a trip to Belfast last March, the pair was shown a basket of hypoallergenic baby products to which Markle pointed at and said, “I’m sure at some point we’ll need the whole thing.”
So there you have it, we now know that they definitely want children soon just not five. Of course, we still don’t know exactly how many they will decide on but many royal watchers have begun betting if it will be one more or a few less than Prince William and Kate Middleton who have George, Charlotte, and Louis.
What we do know is when the prince and former actress do have kids, their little ones will be given titles. If Queen Elizabeth II is still on the throne at that time their titles will be lords and ladies. However, if Prince Charles has ascended to the throne by that time then the babies will get the titles of prince and princess.
