Why Princess Diana’s Former Employee Says She Would Be ‘Furious’ With Meghan Markle Right Now
Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex nearly broke the internet when they announced that they intend to “step back” as senior members of the royal family.
The news was shocking to many people and just about everybody has an opinion on their decision. One person who is not here to weigh in on what’s going on is Harry’s mother, Princess Diana. But her former chef, Darren McGrady, is laying out what he believes that late princess would think of this and he feels she would not be happy at all with Meghan.
Their bombshell announcement shocked the royal family
In the Sussex’s announcement heard around the globe, the couple stated that they were “starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”
They added, “We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages… We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties.”
However, those royals and other “relevant parties” weren’t informed of their decision before the rest of the world.
In a statement Buckingham Palace responded, “Discussions with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage. We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through.”
The reason McGrady said Diana would be ‘furious’ with Meghan
McGrady worked for the royal family from 1982 to 1997 and knew Prince Harry since he was a child. After the news broke, he took to Twitter to express his disappointment over the duke and duchess’ decision and gave his thoughts on what Diana would say about it. He also blamed Meghan for what’s happening.
“Meghan never wanted to be Royal. Meghan wanted to be famous. Meghan is famous! It’s all about Meghan!,” McGrady wrote in one tweet.
The former royal chef then tweeted, “People saying Princess Diana would be proud don’t know Princess Diana. She would have been furious that Harry had been so manipulated.”
McGrady didn’t stop there though and added, “I remember Princess Diana in the kitchen at Kensington Palace talking about ‘her boys’ … ‘William is deep like his father. Harry is an airhead like me’ I guess she nailed it… Even in her darkest hour Princess Diana respected The Queen. She would have been so mad with Harry right now.”
McGrady’s Twitterstorm does raise the question: Would Prince Harry have decided to walk away from royal life if he hadn’t married Meghan and if his mother was still alive?
That, however, is something none of us will ever know the answer to.
