Why Priyanka Chopra Jonas Collects Hot Sauce From Around the World
Priyanka Chopra Jonas seems to have it all. She has a thriving acting and producing career, a marriage to Nick Jonas and a new house in Los Angeles. In that house, you might find closets full of high fashion, but in a recent interview Chopra Jonas revealed a more unusual collection. She collects hot sauce from around the world.
Chopra Jonas was on the Feb. 11 episode of Danica Patrick’s Pretty Intense podcast. Chopra Jonas discussed her new book, Unfinished, and also told Patrick all about her obsession with international hot sauces.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas got a taste for spicy food
Chopra Jonas grew up in India. By the time she was 20, Chopra Jonas was starring in Indian movies. Her palette was reared on Indian cuisine full of natural spices.
“Indian food is very spicy, predominantly spicy,” Chopra Jonas told Patrick. “It can be made without spice as well but the natural nature of things is that it would be. It’s an explosion of flavors. So various different masalas, various different things always make towards really full flavor.”
Indian food spoiled Priyanka Chopra for international cuisine
As a Miss World contestant and 2000 winner, Bollywood actor and eventually Hollywood star, Chopra Jonas traveled the world. No matter where she went, none of the food outside of India was spicy enough. So, she had to take matters into her own hands, and mouth.
“That’s where my love for hot sauce actually started was when I started traveling outside of India,” Chopra Jonas said. “Food outside of India was always so bland for me. It was always so boring. Just roast chicken and vegetables, I was like ugh. Hot sauce came in handy and that’s where I started loving it.”
Not all hot sauce is created equal
Given Chopra Jonas’s sophisticated taste, she wouldn’t just settle for Frank’s Red Hot. Chopra Jonas began sampling hot sauce from every country she went. She’s acquired quite a collection, some of which she now displays in her house with husband Nick Jonas.
“I usually do have hot sauce everywhere,” Chopra Jonas said. “Our dining table will always have a spread of at least four or five. I collect them from different parts of the world, wherever I travel. The Caribbean definitely. I always get a hot sauce from whichever country I go to.”
That said, Chopra Jonas doesn’t cook with hot sauce, or anything.
“I hate it,” Chopra Jonas told Patrick when asked if she likes to cook. So, cook for Chopra Jonas and let her spice it up with her hot sauce collection.
