Why ‘RHOA’ Star Kandi Burruss Decided To Undergo Botox Procedure
Bravo’s housewives are no strangers to plastic surgery and happily admit that it keeps them looking youtful. Each franchise has been open about the procedures they’ve had – no matter how big or small. Some have even allowed their kids to go under the knife. Viewers have witnessed stars of the reality series undergo everything from facelifts to fat transfers. While most franchises have gone under the knife several times, the cast of Real Housewives of Atlanta has had the less amount of procedures done.
Enhancers for the southern belles are typically avoided as they are naturally curvy. RHOA OG, Nene Leakes, is rumored to have had the most surgery, equipped with a full face and body makeover. The other cast members have stuck to breast augmentation and a little botox. Kandi Burruss is the latest to take a trip to the doctor’s office for a botox appointment.
Kandi Burruss has had cosmetic surgery before
Before getting botox, Burruss admitted to going under the knife during the season 9 reunion of Real Housewives of Atlanta.
“I’ve just joined the club. Well, after we finished taping, I decided to pump them up,” said Burruss said in regards to getting a breast lift. “So I was like, ‘I’m gonna take these from sleek to on fleek.’ You know what I mean?”
Burruss opted for the procedure after having her son, Ace, and breastfeeding for a year. She also said that she’d had liposuction.
Though she had cosmetic surgery to enhance certain parts of her body, Burruss is no stranger to the gym. Her weight has fluctuated up and down throughout her life. Some of her weight gain was due to dealing with fibroids in her 20s and 30s. But when she sets her mind to a specific weight goal, she hits the gym hard. While touring with her group Xscape in 2017 and 2018, Burruss debuted a six-pack on stage.
Kandi Burruss opens up about insecurities that led to Botox procedure
Buruss is now opening up her latest procedure, a less invasive one than she had before. She posted a video to her YouTube channel titled “My Cosmetic Procedure with Dr. Jing Jing.” The camera follows her as she gets botox, microdermabrasion and the dark circles under her eyes. It would be the first augmentation procedure done to her face.
According to Burruss, she only went in for a facial before getting the botox and the hyperpigmentation under her eyes removed. She confessed that she decided to get the procedure after childhood trauma. She was made fun of for her dark circles.
“When I was a kid..this little boy called me ‘black eye peas’ because of my dark circles, and when I tell you, he scarred me for life. He scarred me for life! When I found out about concealer, I said nobody will ever see my dark circles again,” she said. “This is why I don’t like walking around with no makeup, people say ‘You’re so tired, you’re not getting any rest!’ [No], that’s just me, this is who I am. get into it!”
The procedure normally requires a needle injection to remove the dark circles. Burruss opted for just a topical cream applied under her eyes to help with removing the circles and it appears she’s happy with the results.
