Will Friedle Offers Bleak Update on Ben Savage Estrangement
In 2022, former co-stars Will Friedle, Danielle Fishel, and Rider Strong launched their podcast, Pod Meets World. While the podcast has focused on their experience on the set of Boy Meets World, fans have often been distracted by the absence of Ben Savage on the podcast. Savage famously portrayed Corey Matthews on the show. Will Friedle has addressed Savage’s absence multiple times, insisting his former friend “ghosted” the cast out of the blue. He recently provided an update, but nothing much has changed.
Will Friedle updates fans on Ben Savage situation
Will Friedle found himself up in arms during a recent podcast episode, and it’s all about Ben Savage. Savage’s sudden decision to step away from the group without explanation still doesn’t sit right with him. He was especially upset when former co-star Maitland Ward suggested he and his podcast co-hosts “hate” Ben Savage.

Ward, who joined the cast during the latter seasons of Boy Meets World, appeared on the group’s podcast earlier this month and made a lot of lofty claims. At one point in the conversation, Ward stated that the group hated Ben Savage. The former actor said it with such conviction that you’d think she had insider information. Apparently, she did not.
Friedle, upset by the statement, insisted he does not hate Savage and offered to show Ward three years of messages his former pal left unanswered. Friedle recalled that Savage, who played his younger brother on Boy Meets World, “bailed” in the middle of a conversation. He admitted that nothing has changed since he first revealed the estrangement. Maitland later conceded that she didn’t have all of the information when she made the comment.
Other co-stars have had the same experience
Will Friedle isn’t the only person Ben Savage has left on read for multiple years. Danielle Fishel reported getting much of the same treatment despite remaining close to her former on-screen love interest for years after the series ended. Fishel, who took on the role of Topanga Lawrence, has spoken out about the odd shift in her friendship with Savage previously.

Rider Strong has remained mostly quiet about the rift. Strong, who played Shawn Hunter on Boy Meets World, has noted that he had the same experience as Friedle. Savage has never commented on the situation. He has mostly stepped back from acting and is focusing on a political career. He remains active on Instagram but does not follow any of his former co-stars.
