Will Jill Duggar Have More Kids? She Says She’s Interested in Expanding Her Family ‘Lord Willing’
Ex-Counting On star Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard answered more questions from fans in a recent Q&A. The one-time reality TV stars got candid about everything from their thoughts on evolution to their Enneagram types. The couple — who have two children — also opened up about whether they plan to have more kids.
Jill Duggar opens up about having more kids
Jill and Derick have two sons. Israel was born in 2015 and Sam was born in 2017. But given that Jill, 29, is one of 19 children, some of her fans are curious whether she plans to have a large family. While she’s said in the past that she’s probably not interested in having as many kids as her mom Michelle Duggar, she and Derick have expressed interest in expanding their family.
“Yes, Lord willing,” Jill replied in response to a question about whether she and Derick planned to have more children.
“Biological or adopted? We’ll see,” Derick added in the video, which was posted to YouTube on March 21.
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard have talked about adopting
This isn’t the first time Jill and Derick have talked about having another child. In a YouTube video they shared in September 2020, they discussed the possibility of giving Sam and Israel a younger brother or sister. They also touched on adoption, indicating it was an option they were considering.
“We would love more kids if God chooses to give us more,” Jill said.
“Derick’s mom was adopted, so adoption has always had a special place in our heart,” she added. “But we’ll see.”
Jill’s sister Jessa Duggar — who is currently pregnant with baby No. 4 — and her husband Ben Seewald have also expressed interest in adoption. Jill’s parents Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have one adopted child. Tyler Duggar is the son of Michelle’s niece, who gave up custody because she was no longer able to care for her child.
Jill and Derick answered other fan questions
In addition to talking about their plans for more children, Jill and Derick touched on several hot-button issues in their 10-minute video. The pair discussed their stance on evolution, with Jill expressing her belief in the Biblical story of creation. Jill also answered a question about how frequently she visits her parents’ home. Jill has had a strained relationship with her family in recent years, and she revealed that she rarely visits her parents at their house.
Derick and Jill also appeared to take a dig at Jill’s older sister Jana Duggar when talking about how they planned to parent their children as they got older. Derick expressed the importance of teaching his kids to be independent, saying that he didn’t want to have a 30-year-old “living in our basement and not being productive.” Jana, 31, is single and still lives in her parents’ home.
