Will Khloé Kardashian Relocate To Boston Now That Tristan Thompson Signed With the Celtics
After nine years with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Tristan Thompson is leaving the team to join the Boston Celtics. Thompson’s agent, Rich Paul, announced the news on Nov. 21, telling Yahoo Sports that he’s signed a two-year deal with the sports team for $19 million.
Though many couldn’t be happier for Thompson and are excited to see him start playing for a new team, others can’t help but wonder what will happen to his relationship with Khloé Kardashian.
Will she follow him to Boston, or will they try to make a long-distance relationship work?
Khloé Kardashian moved to Cleveland to be with Thompson before giving birth
Kardashian and Thompson started dating in the summer of 2016. After being set up on a blind date by a mutual friend, the pair seemed as though they were destined for happily ever after.
They would gush about each other in the public eye and shared many romantic getaways and date nights. In December 2017, Kardashian and Thompson announced that they were expecting their first child together.
Since they were starting a family together, living in two different states wasn’t feasible for the couple. After giving it some thought, Kardashian decided to make a part-time home with Thompson in Cleveland, where she stayed the majority of her pregnancy.
However, after learning of the athlete’s first cheating scandal (which was brought to her attention just a few days before giving birth), Kardashian moved back to California with her daughter, True, to be closer to her family.
A few months later, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star moved back to Cleveland after making amends with Thompson, but her stay wasn’t permanent.
Kardashian has since resided in California
Though she wanted to keep their family together, Kardashian’s heart was in Calabasas, and she ultimately decided to live on the West Coast with True while Thompson remained in Cleveland.
And residing in the same state as her family and friends proved to be for the best because, in February 2019, Thompson made headlines again for another cheating scandal. But this time, it was with Kylie Jenner’s BFF, Jordyn Woods.
After learning that Thompson had allegedly hooked with Woods at a house party, Kardashian ended their relationship. But despite being heartbroken, she continued to let Thompson spend time with their daughter, as she did not want to take her away from him.
Kardashian and Thompson have rekindled their relationship
Following Thompson’s second cheating scandal, many were convinced that Kardashian was done with him and that they would never be on good terms again.
But after Kardashian forgave her ex for his actions, the pair developed an amicable co-parenting relationship, which ultimately helped them rekindled their relationship.
After spending several months quarantining in the Good American founder’s home amid the coronavirus pandemic with their daughter, Kardashian and Thompson decided to give their romance another try.
“The lockdown made them closer,” an insider told People back in July. “They hadn’t spent this much time together since they lived in Cleveland. They have had an amazing spring with True in L.A.”
“Khloé and Tristan are great co-parents,” the source added. “They also really like each other.”
A few months later, it was confirmed that the pair had reconciled and that they couldn’t be happier started a brand new chapter together.
“They are together and very happy,” the source told E! News. “She’s very happy that he’s around and that things have been going as well as they have.”
But despite making amends, insiders noted that Kardashian wasn’t getting her hopes about as she was hesitant her relationship with Thompson would change once he went back to work.
Will Kardashian follow Thompson to Boston?
Now that Thompson has signed on to play for the Boston Celtics, a source has shed a light on how Kardashian feels about him moving to Boston.
Though she’s supportive of this career move, an insider tells E! News that the reality star isn’t planning to follow the NBA player to the east coast. However, nothing is set in stone.
“Khloe is supportive of Tristan and his career. She is very much settled with True in L.A. and doesn’t intend to uproot her and their life. They don’t know what’s going to happen. They are still figuring things out.”
As for how they will navigate their co-parenting relationship and rekindled romance, those plans are still up in the air.
As of yet, Kardashian hasn’t shared her forthcoming plans once Thompson relocates to Boston, where he’ll remain for at least two years, depending on whether his contract gets renewed or not.
