Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have deep ties to the Super Bowl franchise. The American actress participated in a 2014 pre-game event, leading many to wonder if it could happen again. The happy couple officially parted ways with the royal family. Could their big move mean more of Meghan’s traditions will be re-instated?

No matter what Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, does, everyone is watching. Since her May 2018 to Prince Harry, even an appearance at an athletic event faces intense scrutiny.

Everyone wants to know the couple’s every move. This is partially what’s prompting their groundbreaking step-down from royal ties in search of building their family, their way.

There was a time when Meghan could take part in things like any other celebrity. The Suits actress was one of many celebrities who played in the 2014 DirectTV Beach Bowl in New York City.

The flag football event preceded the Super Bowl. Others involved include Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, Tracy Morgan and more. Each teamed up with a professional athlete for the win.

Meghan’s teammates included close friend, Serena Williams, along with Shay Mitchell, Nin Agdal, and Hannah Davis to represent the blue group. Markle played defense against The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev and ultimately won.

At the time, Meghan revealed on her former lifestyle website, The Tig, that the event is where she reunited with Williams. The two initially met in 2010. They’ve had an unbreakable bond ever since.

“[We were] taking pictures, laughing through the flag football game we were both playing and chatting not about tennis or acting but about good old fashioned girly stuff,” Meghan previously wrote.

Aside from having many friends in the states, Meghan may have a place in other pre-Super Bowl festivities. At least, fans hope.

Prince Harry is a major athletics fan

Meghan and Harry intend to settle down in Canada — where Meghan previously lived while shooting Suits. But, there may be more time in Los Angeles once all the royal details are sorted.

According to E! News, Meghan and Harry are planning to spend part of the summer in Meghan’s hometown. There, she can do voice work and take on other gigs as they manifest.

As for now, Harry still pledges allegiance to United Kingdom football — soccer. As a dedicated Arsenal fan and the man behind the Invictus Games, the Duke of Sussex is a lover of athletics in many forms. He still has obligations to the Rugby Football League, which is partially keeping him overseas.

There may be a difference between the U.K. and American football, but the Super Bowl is an event that brings all walks of life together. Since the duo made the decision to leave their royal duties, Canada and America may see more of them out and about.

Will Meghan or Harry attend any ‘Super Bowl LIV’ events?

As of now, it’s unclear if Meghan plans to attend any Super Bowl LIV events. If she’s residing in Vancouver, Canada with baby Archie, the likelihood is slim.

Since the duchess has ties to the American franchise from previous years, we’re willing to bet she’ll at least watch the big game. Harry, on the other hand, has a full plate and may not catch the play-by-play as it runs live.

The mere thought of Meghan and Harry on this side of the ocean is exciting. One or both might make an appearance at any Super Bowl or athletic event at any given time. What a time to be alive.
