Will Meghan Markle Return to Acting? Charlie Hunnam Says It Would Take This 1 Thing To Work With Her
With Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepping down as senior members of the royal family and moving back to Canada, there has been a lot of speculation about how they will fund their various endeavors. Fans have even thrown around the idea that Meghan might return to acting, a plan that The Gentlemen star Charlie Hunnam is completely on board with. But there is one thing Charlie would require if he was asked to star opposite of Meghan in a major movie role.
Charlie Hunnam talks about Meghan Markle’s future in acting
Hunnam hails from the UK and has grown up hearing about the royal family in the media. While Harry and Meghan’s decision to quit the royal spotlight has sparked headlines around the world, Hunnam admitted that he is not caught up on the situation.
In a new interview with TMZ, which can be viewed on YouTube, Hunnam explained how he does not know a lot about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s announcement. He also revealed that he does not have a strong opinion about the couple, though he does understand why they wanted out.
“We all deserve a little autonomy in our lives and the opportunity to find some happiness,” Hunnam shared.
The Sons of Anarchy was then asked about starring in a romantic movie with Meghan. While Hunnam feels like Meghan should pursue acting if it is something she is passionate about, he isn’t so sure about playing a part in a rom-com.
“I’m not much of a rom-com guy, that’s like more about me than her,” Hunnam stated. “I would star opposite her if it was a good role and she was right for it and I was right for it.”
The actor refused to comment about doing a sex scene with the former Suits star.
Markle inks a deal with Disney
As part of their plan to leave the royal family, Harry and Meghan are looking to become financially independent from the crown. They also promised to pay back the money that was used to renovate their home, Frogmore Cottage, which amounts to a little over $3 million.
We still do not know how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will fund their various work, but they certainly have plenty of things to fall back on, including Meghan’s acting career.
Meghan Markle is currently enjoying an extended stay in Canada and has reportedly inked a new deal with Disney. She is set to lend her voice for an upcoming project with the studio, though specifics of the deal have yet to be revealed.
Although Meghan and Harry could probably use the money, she is donating her salary to a charity that fights the poaching of elephants.
The new deal is definitely a step towards Meghan reviving her acting career, though experts are not confident about her making a big splash in the industry.
Will Meghan Markle return to acting?
Before she dated Harry and became a household name, Meghan was a relatively unknown actress who enjoyed a minor part in the hit legal drama, Suits. Although Meghan’s acting career was certainly on the rise, she never landed any major roles.
When it comes to returning to Hollywood, experts believe Meghan Markle will have a difficult time landing scripted parts. After all, Meghan’s schedule is already packed with charitable work, so finding time to film a television series or a movie might prove difficult.
That said, Meghan could easily become a personality in Hollywood and could appear as a guest on a variety of different projects. But any role she accepts will be limited, especially considering how she still has Harry’s reputation to uphold.
Charlie Hunnam dishes on ‘The Gentlemen’
As far as Hunnam is concerned, there is no denying that fans would love to see him and Meghan star in a romantic comedy together. In the meantime, Hunnam has had a very busy year on the big screens.
The actor is currently getting ready for the release of his new movie, The Gentlemen, a Guy Ritchie film that boasts a slew of big-time celebrities. Apart from Hunnam, the cast includes Hugh Grant, Henry Golding, Matthew McConaughey, and Colin Farrell.
The movie is about an American who runs a massive marijuana business in London and is looking to retire. The film is available in theaters now.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, meanwhile, have not commented on Charlie Hunnam’s remarks about her acting career. The two are currently in Canada, where they plan on buying a second home.
