Miranda Lambert is poised for a big night at the Grammys this year. The country star grabbed a nomination for Best Country Song for her hit track, “It All Comes Out In The Wash,” and one for Best Country Album for Interstate Gospel, which she produced with her band, Pistol Annies. While Lambert is fully expected to attend the 62nd Grammy Awards, her former husband, Blake Shelton, is set to perform with his current girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, setting up what could be an awkward reunion.

Miranda Lambert talks about Grammy nods

Ahead of the Grammys, which air Sunday, January 26, Lambert opened up about her success this year and what it means to be honored for her music.

According to Grammy, Lambert talked about how she wanted her solo album, Wildcard, to be a little more upbeat than her previous projects. The singer did not say that her mood had anything to do with what is going on in her personal life, but she was happy to lighten things up.

“I did. I wrote for this record in the way of wanting to have a little fun and letting myself off the hook. I wrote a pretty heavy singer-songwriter record with The Weight Of These Wings. And also, you really have to factor in playing live, what you’re missing on the stage and what you want to give your fans,” Miranda Lambert shared.

Lambert did not say anything about the possibility of running into Shelton at the Grammys. But given how it has been close to five years since they ended things, we can only hope that it won’t be that big of a deal.

In early 2019, Lambert tied the knot with her boyfriend, Brendan McLoughlin, who is a police officer in New York City. The two exchanged vows in secret before announcing their marriage a month later.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani to perform for the Grammys

Taking to social media, Shelton recently revealed that he will be performing alongside Stefani at the 2020 Grammy Awards.

“Nobody but you, @gwenstefani, that I’d want to share this year’s @RecordingAcad #GRAMMYs stage with!” Shelton stated.

Shelton did not say which track he and Stefani are going to sing together, but the two have released several duets over the years. This includes “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” “You Make It Feel Like Christmas,” and “Nobody But You.”

Stefani and Shelton sang “Nobody But You” for his latest album, Fully Loaded: God’s Country, and will be performing it at the Grammys. It is unclear which other artists will be taking the stage for the event, but there is little doubt that Miranda Lambert will be in attendance.

Shelton was nominated for Best Country Solo Performance for “God’s Country.” He is up against the likes of Willie Nelson (“Ride Me Back Home”), Ashley McBryde (“Girl Goin’ Nowhere”), Tanya Tucker (“Bring My Flowers Now”), and Tyler Childers (“All Your’n”).

Blake Shelton opens up about his hit duet

While fans wait to see what unfolds between Shelton and Lambert, the country crooner recently opened up about the success of his latest track, “Nobody But You.”

Shelton, who did not write the song, revealed that he feels like the single is a perfect representation of how things are going in his personal life.

“This was one of those songs where the more I heard it, the more I fell in love with it,” Shelton explained. “I also realized how important it is for me and where I am in my life, and I think that’s why Shane was trying to get it to me. It fits my story.”

The Voice star added that he added Stefani to the song right before he went in to record it. He was also very excited about singing the song in front of his peers at the Grammys.

Considering how the track is basically a love ballad to Stefani, it will be interesting to see how Lambert reacts to the duet in front of the cameras.

What happened the last time Blake Shelton performed in front of Miranda Lambert?

This is not the first time Shelton has sung in front of Lambert at an awards ceremony. A few months ago, Shelton sang “God’s Country” at the CMA’s, and his performance sparked a standing ovation from the crowd.

But the only person who did not stand up and clap for Shelton was Lambert and her husband, McLoughlin. The two remained seated after Shelton was done singing and it did not look happy about the situation.

In contrast, Shelton and Stefani reportedly enjoyed Miranda Lambert’s song, “It All Comes Out In The Wash,” though it is unclear if they actually danced to the performance as some reports claimed.

Whatever happened, it is going to be very interesting to see what happens between Lambert and Shelton, especially considering that he and Stefani are taking the stage at the Grammys.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani started dating in the fall of 2015, soon after his split from Miranda Lambert, and her split from Gavin Rossdale. Their relationship has been very strong over the years, and the two are rumored to be considering marriage.
