Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Marriage Has 1 Thing in Common With Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s

Being one of the most famous celebrity couples in the world might be something Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have in common with Beyoncé and Jay-Z, but that’s not all.

Interestingly enough, the actor’s long-standing marriage shares a commonality with that of Bey and Jay’s. Read on below to find out what it is.

Will and Jada Smith tied the knot in 1997

Will and Jada Smith have a long and storied relationship. The pair first met back in 1994 on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which was the show that shot Smith to ultimate stardom.

Pinkett Smith had auditioned for the part of Smith’s character’s girlfriend, but she was deemed too short. After losing out on the part, Pinkett landed a role on the sitcom A Different World, which was shot in the same studio lot as Smith’s show.

Since he had felt an instant connection to the Baltimore native when they met, Smith decided that he wanted to ask her out on a date. However, when he showed up on the set of A Different World to talk to Pinkett, he ran into Sheree Zampino, who eventually became his wife.

Shortly after Smith and Zampino tied the knot, they welcomed their first child, Trey Smith. But despite starting a life with Zampino, Smith was still attracted to Pinkett and couldn’t shake the feeling that he was married to the wrong woman.

After Zampino divorced him in 1995, the Bad Boys actor began dating Pinkett, and two years later, on New Year’s Eve, the couple exchanged nuptials. In 1998, the actors welcomed their son, Jaden, and a couple of years later, their daughter, Willow, was born. 

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have been together since the early 2000s

A few years after Will and Jada Smith got together, Beyoncé and Jay-Z took their spot as Hollywood’s hottest couple when it was revealed they were dating.

Though they had met sometime in the late ’90s, Bey and Jay didn’t become an official couple until the early 2000s. In 2004, the pair went public with their relationship during that year’s BET Awards and have been together ever since.

In April 2008, they tied the knot during an exclusive — and private — wedding ceremony held inside the rapper’s New York City penthouse.

Four years later, they welcomed their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. Then on June 13, 2017, the couple’s twins, Sir and Rumi Carter, were born.

What do these two couples have in common?

While it’s clear both couples are head over heels in love, one other thing they have in common is that both have publicly dealt with the issues of infidelity in their relationships.

After rumors began to swirl that Pinkett Smith had had an affair with R&B singer August Alsina, the actor confirmed during a June 2020 episode of Facebook Watch’s Red Table Talk that she did, in fact, have a relationship — or an “entanglement” — with the “No Love” crooner.

Meanwhile, back in 2014, it was speculated that Jay-Z had cheated on Beyoncé after video footage surfaced of the “Halo” singer’s sister, Solange, attacking the rapper inside an elevator.

Rumors swirled once again in 2016 when Beyoncé came out with her Lemonade record that had talked about a dishonest significant other and also mentioned the infamous “Becky with good hair.” Jay’s infidelity rumors were eventually confirmed in 2018 when he admitted to David Letterman that he had been unfaithful in his marriage. 

But despite infidelity causing issues within these two couple’s marriages, they were still able to work through their problems and ultimately build up a much stronger bond.

By talking through their issues and realizing how much they love each other, Beyoncé and Jay-Z and Will and Jada Smith have been able to keep their marriages intact. Today, they are an example to all couples out there that despite falling on hard times, love always wins in the end.
