Will Smith Joined ‘Fortnite’ as ‘Bad Boys’ Character
And they said The Avengers was the most ambitious crossover ever. It seems like everything crosses over with the game Fortnite, even real-life celebrities. Will Smith joined Fortnite as his character from Sony’s Bad Boy series, Mike Lowery.
Will Smith joined ‘Fortnite’ alongside other famous faces
It is almost shocking that this did not happen sooner.
Fortnite is an online multiplayer game where 100 players fight each other in player-vs-player combat to survive as the last one standing.
The game has already collected several famous faces, including Brazillian footballer Neymar Jr., Twitch streamer Ninja, and LazarBeam (the latter two cameoing in Ryan Reynolds’s Free Guy).
Of course, the game has a plethora of fictional character skins. Spanning everyone from John Wick to Black Widow to Wonder Woman, nothing seems off the table.
When an actor’s character is added, however, it’s two birds with one stone. For example, the John Wick skin is modeled after Keanu Reeves.
Suddenly, both the celebrity and their character are in the game.
This is how Will Smith joined Fortnite as his Bad Boys character Mike Lowery.
Two items accompanied the character skin, the Detective’s Duffle Back Bling and the Loose Cannon Cutters, a dual-wielding pickaxe.
The Mike Lowery skin leaked a month early
This is actually not the first time people heard about Will Smith’s character joining Fortnite. The Mike Lowery skin was leaked about a month ago.
According to PCGamer, a data miner by the name of Hypex dug into the game’s code. Discovering skins for other famous names like Lebron James and Ariana Grande, Mike Lowery appeared as well.
In addition to new skins for players, they found different modes and trials coming to the game.
As for why Will Smith joined Fortnite now is a bigger question.
If Will Smith joined ‘Fortnite’ now, are there ‘Bad Boys’ news on the way?
Most of the characters and events added to Fortnite can be chalked up to promotional stints. Thanos joined to promote Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, Rick Sanchez joined with more Rick & Morty episodes on the way.
Who could forget the Star Wars event that revealed the Emperor’s return in Star War: The Rise of Skywalker, with Emperor Palpatine speaking ominously to the players.
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence starred in Michael Bay’s Bad Boys in 1995. They reprised their roles as Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett in the 2003 Bad Boys II.
Returning, they starred in Bad Boys for Life in 2020, but hardly any news of a fourth sequel has made headlines.
Sony announced plans for a fourth installment in the series, with Chris Bremner writing the script. Shortly after the success of Bad Boys for Life, the Hollywood Reporter said that Sony saw there was still life in the franchise.
The “one last time” tagline seemed to indicate the last movie for the franchise.
With Sony’s interest in continuing the Bad Boys movies and now that Will Smith joined Fortnite, fans are curious if this addition was a promotional stunt for some exciting upcoming news.
