And it seems Will Smith’s Instagram features a post and a caption regarding what occurred. Here’s what he posted.
Will Smith’s Instagram has gained 800,000 followers since the Oscars 2022 slap
Will Smith and Chris Rock’s Oscars 2022 moment will forever go down in history — and fans of the celebrities are following the aftermath. During the Academy Awards, Chris Rock made a G.I. Jane joke in reference to Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head. Pinkett Smith has alopecia, though, so the joke didn’t go over well with her or Smith. Smith then went on stage to slap the comedian, and when he returned to his seat, he yelled at Rock to remove his wife’s name from the comedian’s mouth.
Since the infamous slap, Will Smith’s Instagram has exploded. Bachelor Data reports Smith’s Instagram gained 800,000 followers as of the afternoon of March 28, 2022. Chris Rock’s Instagram also showed signs of growth with an increase of 360,000 followers. Jada Pinkett Smith’s Instagram grew by 300,000 followers.
In total, Will Smith has 60.8 million followers, Chris Rock has 4.9 million followers, and Jada Pinkett Smith has 11.4 million followers.
After Will Smith slapped Chris Rock, he seemingly referenced it on Instagram
Will Smith’s Instagram following now gets to see the actor’s reaction to slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars 2022. On the evening of March 27, 2022, Smith posted a video of him and Jada Pinkett Smith in their Oscars attire. “Good morning, everyone,” a voiceover begins in the video. “God has let me live another day, and I’m about to make it everyone’s problem.”
In the caption of the post, Smith wrote, “Me ‘n @jadapinkettsmith got all dressed up to choose chaos.”
He also added in the comments, “You can’t invite people from Philly or Baltimore nowhere!!”
The comments on Smith’s post remain divided on what occurred. As for Pinkett Smith, she posted a video showing off her Oscars 2022 look on her Instagram — and she made no mention of the slap. “Eyes on the prize,” she captioned her video showing her green dress and shaved head.
The actor and comedian reportedly settled their feud and are on fine terms now
So, where do Will Smith and Chris Rock stand after the Oscars 2022 slap? They reportedly hashed things out and are on fine terms now. According to Page Six, Sean “Diddy” Combs confirmed Smith and Rock talked it out after the Academy Awards ended.
“That’s not a problem,” Combs noted. “That’s over. I can confirm that. It’s all love. They’re brothers.”
However, when Smith accepted his Academy Award for Best Actor, he didn’t mention any apologies directly to Rock. “I want to apologize to the Academy,” Smith stated. “I want to apologize to all of my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment, and I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me; it’s about being able to shine a light on all of the people.”
