Will Smith Reveals the Truth Behind His Tears During His Entanglement Discussion With Jada Pinkett Smith
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s relationship has always been a bit of a mystery to fans. The two normally remain pretty tight-lipped about what goes on between them. But recently, they were forced to share more than they’re used to when rapper August Alsina revealed that he and Jada were in a relationship while she was married to Will. During the infamous Red Table Talk episode where they discussed the incident, Will appeared to be crying. Now, we know why.
What happened between Jada Pinkett Smith and August Alsina?
The drama all started when Alsina did an interview with Angela Yee of The Breakfast Club and revealed details about his relationship with Jada.
“I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really deeply love and have a ton of love for her,” he said. “I devoted myself to it, I gave my full self to it — so much so to the point that I can die right now and be OK with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody.”
He even alleged that he spoke to Will about dating his wife.
“I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership … he gave me his blessing,” Alsina said.
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s ‘Red Table Talk’ episode
After Alsina’s interview, Jada decided to have an open dialogue with Will on Red Table Talk about what happened. During the episode, she revealed that she initially got involved in Alsina’s life to help him and that her whole family was close to him at one point. But then, their relationship shifted to being romantic.
“I had to learn to break [my codependency] in this cycle, the idea of needing to fix and being drawn to people that need help…whether it’s your health, or whether it’s your addictions – there’s something about that childhood trauma that feels as though it can be fixed through fixing people versus fixing me,” Jada told Will on the show.
Why did it look like Will Smith was crying?
Throughout the episode, Will looked as if he was on the verge of tears, with red-rimmed eyes. But apparently, his appearance had nothing to do with emotion.
In a new YouTube video, Will and Jada explained the whole thing.
“I’m not sad a lot,” Will said. “I think because I drink so much coffee I get dehydrated and it makes my eyes water. People think I’m crying all the time and I’m not crying.”
“Such a shame,” Jada interjected.
“It was midnight,” Will continued, explaining why his eyes were so red during the Red Table Talk interview. “We were shooting at midnight because we were trying to rush and go to the airport in the morning.”
Jada then said that she wished she would have just reshot the whole interview, which is what she initially wanted to do.
“Thats what I said, I said reshoot it but it played out everybody is like ‘Poor Will,'” Will agreed.
Ultimately, Jada said that she was trying to make a serious video and it ended up coming off too serious.
