Will There Be a ‘BET Presents: The Encore’ Season 2?
Earlier in 2021, BET premiered the original series BET Presents: The Encore. Taking a variety of former girl group members, the TV show brings them together to record an album within a 30-day period. This format means the series could definitely continue in the future, but will there be another season of BET Presents: The Encore? Show creator Carlos King has his fingers crossed.
Who’s in ‘BET Presents: The Encore?’
When the show started, it featured Nivea, Aubrey O’Day (Danity Kane), Shamari DeVoe (Blaque), Kiely Williams (3LW), Pamela Long (Total), Irish and LeMisha Grinstead (702), and Felisha and Fallon King (Cherish). However, O’Day left the show in the July 14 episode.
Frustrated by what she said was a lack of cohesiveness in the music and fighting within the group, she packed her bags and went home. That brings the group to seven singers. (Williams has said she wants to take on the role of the creative director instead of being a singer).
Known as Blueprint, the group has created a total of five songs so far. They’ll perform them at the end of the show, which is expected to wrap in August.

Asked by The Jasmine Brand if the cast would be back for a second season, King indicated that there aren’t any official plans to do another one. But if it happens, it seems he would like to see everyone back.
“I love my cast,” he said. “I would like for you all to see how it ends then I want Black Twitter to tell me who they want back.”
“But I definitely think for me, I want to follow the reality,” he continued. “So is a group going to form in the end and if so who’s in the group? Those are the things I have to always take into consideration if we are blessed enough to get a second season. But I’ve been reading a lot of tweets and people have already been pitching me artists they want on the show, so we’ll see what happens.”
King also said he hopes there will be a reunion special at the end of the show. But again, nothing was official.
What he thinks of an all-male version of the show
Elsewhere in the interview, King was asked about the possibility of a show featuring former boy band members.
“I think that’ll be dope,” he said. “To see a male version of former boy band members… like imagine Sisqo the Dragon (Dru Hill), Raz-B (B2K), Q Parker (112), Day26, [Bel Biv DeVoe]… like imagine these amazing boy bands working on something. I think that’ll be dope.”
“So if we’re blessed with the opportunity for that to happen, I would definitely take advantage of it,” he added. “I want to see that.”
