Will There Be a ‘Descendants 4’ on Disney Channel?
You didn’t think that was the end of the story, did you? With the third Descendants movie under Disney Channel’s belt, some fans are wondering if the studio will create a fourth movie. Will there be a Descendants 4? Here’s what we know about Disney Channel, Cameron Boyce, Dove Cameron, and the VKs.

Disney Channel premiered ‘Descendants 3’ on August 2, 2019
It’s been about four years since the premiere of the original Descendants movie. Since its release, the film became a favorite among Disney Channel fans, introducing songs like “Did I Mention?” and “If Only” to the world. Now, Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay are back for the next chapter of their story in the United States of Auradon. When asked about the third movie in the trilogy, Dove Cameron said she grew as a singer and actress.
“It’s all me, it’s all my sound,” said Dove Cameron in an interview with Seventeen Magazine. At the end of the day, I don’t do anything unless I love it. [This is] by far my most personal experience yet in the industry. It’s taken me a long time, but just like everything else in my life so far, I now understand why I waited so long. It’s finally right.”
“So much of me is in Mal because she wasn’t complete when I got to her. I got to really craft her,” she continued. “She’s incredibly self-possessed, very strong, very persistent, and resilient.”
Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, and other cast members got emotional wrapping up ‘Descendants 3’
Based on the cast members and their tearful goodbyes to their characters, this film will most likely be the last in the series. Before the premiere, Sofia Carson shared a picture of her character, Evie, and wrote a letter about her time in Descendants.
“Five years ago, I walked into an audition room, that, little did I know, would turn my whole world upside down and paint it a beautiful shade of blue. To say that you changed my life would be saying too little,” she wrote. “But, if I’m being honest, I could never say enough. I could never find the words to express to you the fairytale you have gifted me. You have taken me on the journey of a lifetime and this lifetime over (and a thousand lifetimes after that.) Every precious moment, every memory, every laugh, every smile has felt like pixie dust. The purest magic. A fairytale.”
Will Disney Channel make another ‘Descendants’ movie?
Recently some popular movies by Disney Channel, including Teen Beach Movie, earned a sequel. However, Descendants is the first Disney Channel movie to have two sequels since High School Musical. As a result, some fans are asking if Disney Channel will create a fourth movie.
The last scene of Descendants 3 shows Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos racing towards The Isle of the Lost. What this movie didn’t include, however, was the ending line repeated in the two previous movies: “you didn’t think this was the end of the story, did you?”
The ending scene and the passing of Cameron Boyce, who plays a lead role in this film series, leads fans to believe this will be the last chapter in the VKs story.
“Overall, I think Descendants 2 was the best movie on the franchise. It had the best musical numbers, cinematography, writing, and character development. However, Descendants 1 is… iconic and Descendants 3 was such an amazing way to end the franchise in a full-circle ending,” said one Twitter user.
