Will There Be a Season 4 of ‘The Mandalorian?’
Fans haven’t seen the last of Baby Yoda and his bounty hunter best friend. In fact, according to one cast member, the award-winning series, The Mandalorian, is just scratching the surface with seasons 1 and 2.
Will this Star Wars series return for seasons 3 and 4? Here’s what we know about this Disney+ original series.
Season 4 of ‘The Mandalorian’ is confirmed for Disney’s streaming platform
The Mandalorian was one of the first Disney+ exclusive television shows. It was also Star Wars’ first-ever live-action series, showing a new corner of the galaxy far, far away. This series takes place after the fall of the Empire, with one bounty hunter who comes across a rather valuable asset.
With season 3 confirmed and set to start production during 2020, some are looking toward the future. Although there’s no premiere date or confirmed cast list, Disney+ will create a season 4 of this Star Wars television show.
‘Star Wars’ fans will start to get answers during seasons 3 and 4, according to 1 cast member
Fans are just starting to see what powers the Child holds. During an interview with People, Giancarlo Esposito, the actor behind the dark-saber wielding villain Moff Gideon commented on the future of The Mandalorian. That includes the show’s plans for seasons 3 and 4.
“We’re living in a universe that’s huge, and there’s so much to explore,” he said. “So I think this show is going to start to lay the groundwork for the depth and breadth that’s going to come in season 3 and season 4, where you’re really gonna start to get answers.”
Season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian’ is set to start filming during 2020 — coronavirus (COVID-19) permitting
Yes, there will be a third and fourth season of this live-action Star Wars series. There is, however, no exact premiere dates set for these upcoming seasons.
Some fans expect season 3 to premiere during fall 2021, about a year following the release of season 2. However, production may be paused due to stay-at-home orders.
Other Disney+ exclusive shows have postponed filming due to the pandemic, including season 2 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.) More information will presumably be announced in the coming weeks.
Until season 3’s premiere, there are still some new adventures featuring the Child and the Mandalorian available on Disney’s streaming service. That’s thanks to the second season of this original series, in which the main character tries to reunite the Child with its tribe — the Jedis.
New episodes of The Mandalorian premiere on Disney+ on a weekly basis, joining other Star Wars television shows like The Clone Wars and movies from the sequel trilogy, trilogy, and prequel trilogy. To learn more about Disney’s streaming platform and to subscribe, visit their website.
