Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves Have ‘Raging’ Crushes on Each Other

It’s safe to say that Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder have one of the most adorable friendships in Hollywood. Not only have they been incredibly close since the late ’80s, but they also recently confessed to having “raging crushes” on each other.

What movies have Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder starred in together?

Reeves and Ryder have such brilliant on-screen chemistry that the actors couldn’t pass up the opportunity to star in as many movies as possible together.

Their first film was Francis Ford Copolla’s 1992 version of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. In the film, Reeves plays Jonathan Haker, aka Ryder’s romantic interest. Yet Copolla was hesitant at first about casting Reeves for the role, considering the director had someone else in mind for the part.

According to the director, he wanted Johnny Depp to play Ryder’s love interest. (At the time, Ryder and Depp were engaged in real life.) But unfortunately, the Edward Scissorhands actor wasn’t given the role because he wasn’t a “big enough star” at the time.

“Winona Ryder in those days was going out with Johnny Depp, and I wanted Johnny to have the part of Jonathan Harker,” said Copolla in an interview with Vulture. “The studio thought he wasn’t enough of a star. I was so embarrassed. So I said to Winona, ‘What do you think? Who do you think they would think is a star who would want to do it?’ And she said Keanu. I just thought he was a very nice person. I was so touched by his sincerity.

Following Dracula, the two starred in several other films together. These movies include A Scanner Darkly, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, Destination Wedding, and Dracula Untold.

These two just can’t seem to get enough of each other!

Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves have major crushes on each other (and have for a long time)

In a recent interview, while promoting their romantic comedy Destination Wedding, Ryder confessed her feeling for Reeves. She said that she’s had a “pretty big, healthy crush” on her co-star ever since they met in the late 1980s.

“I had a big, healthy crush on you, too,” Reeves gushed in response.

“It’s still raging,” Ryder professed. “trust me.”

And in an interview with the two actors for Vanity Fair, they gushed about their “love” for each other.

“I just love being together with him so much,” Ryder said in that incongruously sunny hotel room. Turning to Reeves, she continued: “My love for you . . .”
“. . . and my love for you,” Reeves returned, looking at Ryder adoringly.

“I’ve had it forever, but now people finally see it. Even though we’re in character,” said Ryder.

Are Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves married?

Interestingly enough, Reeves and Ryder might be married. While filming Frances Coppola’s Dracula, there was a wedding scene where the two had a ceremony led by an actual Romanian Preist.

“In that [marriage] scene, Francis [Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest,” said Ryder. “We shot the master, and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married.”
