Winona Ryder Said Keanu Reeves Is ‘1 of My Favorite People to Work With’ Because of Their ‘Strong Chemistry’
Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder have undeniable on-screen chemistry. Their long friendship and many co-starring movie roles have created a close bond over the years and Ryder once said that Reeves is “one of her favorite people to work with.”

During a 2018 interview with ET, while promoting their movie Destination Wedding, Ryder said that working with Reeves again was “the best.”
When asked, “What makes [Reeves] the best?” Ryder couldn’t help but gush about her co-star. “Pretty much everything,” she answered. “I’ve always — I mean, he’s one of my favorite people to work with, to be around …”
Reeves interjected, “I feel the same way.”
“I knew the movie would only work with someone who I really have strong chemistry with and I’ve always felt like we did,” Ryder added.
As for what Reeves loves about working with Ryder, he was quick to rattle off all the great things about his leading lady. “We’re good friends, sense of humor, intelligence, mind, view of the world, beautiful heart, beautiful spirit, and a damn fine actress,” he shared.

The two actors went on to dish about the first time they met, when they presented an award at the Independent Spirit Awards. “I remember I was very, very excited” about the moment, Ryder recalled. “I had a pretty big healthy crush on him.”
He admitted the feeling was mutual, saying “I had a pretty big healthy crush on you too.”
They both said the feelings haven’t faded either, with Ryder sharing how their crush is “still raging.”

Their lovefest was also seen in a 2018 interview with iHollywoodTV, where Ryder remarked that Reeves is definitely “very special.”
“I’ve been so lucky in my life that I’ve worked with so many great actors but there is something very, very special with Keanu,” Ryder explained. “I have so much love and respect for him and it really genuinely makes going to work and working an absolute pleasure.”
“Even if it’s a thousand degrees and we’re rolling down a hill — like it’s … I can’t imagine doing it with anybody else but him,’ Ryder added.
Reeves discussed how they’ve developed a “shorthand” that allows them to work together so well. “I mean, we like each other personally … and professionally, we have such a shorthand because we have gone up against it and gone through the process many times,” he said.
“We are both kind of cut from the same acting tradition/cloth/ilk so we view rehearsal the same and review what a character is, we look at how we develop a scene together,” the actor added.
