‘Wizards of Waverly Place’: Here Are 5 of the Most Relatable Quotes From Alex Russo
Alex Russo might’ve been a wizard, but she loved 10-minute sales and flowers just like everybody else. Fans first met this character with Disney Channel’s original series, Wizards of Waverly Place.
Although the series premiered its last episode in 2012, some quotes from this New Yorker are still pretty accurate today. Here are some fan-favorite lines from Alex Russo, portrayed by Selena Gomez.
Alex Russo sending herself flowers during ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’
“Oh my gosh, someone sent me flowers, I wonder who it could be, me!”
During the “Potion Commotion” episode of season 1, Alex reveals her huge crush on a boy at her school named Brad. She decides to make a love potion for him, but that backfires in a big way — literally.
This character ends up with a giant head but, thanks to some planning, flowers sent to her locker from herself.
‘Look, I’ll handle it like I handle all of life’s problems. Ignore it until it goes away.’
Alex wasn’t known for being a good student — both in her high school and in her wizard training. Whether it be getting into a relationship with a werewolf or pulling a prank at school, Alex also always found herself in trouble. Her solution? To just ignore it until it goes away.
‘Being old is hard. When I get old, I’m just going to sit around and read magazines.’
“That’s what you do anyway,” Justin said. Alex quickly responded with, “I’m practicing for later.”
When the Russos were having an emergency, Ale’s solution was to kick back and read a magazine. It’s this same interest in fashion that leads to the “Crazy Funky Junky Hat” song and the peaked interest in the “Crazy 10-Minute Sale.”
‘I’m not lazy. I’m just resting up for my 30s.’
Yep, she’s got a lot planned. That’s especially true because she planned on becoming the family wizard. That meant that throughout this series, Alex was known for only memorizing spells that applied to her life. Justin, on the other hand, was very studious and also wanted to become the family wizard.
‘Dad got all tensed and frustrated like how he acts when he’s around you and your dolls.’
“Action-figures,” Justin corrected his sister. “Collectibles. In their original packaging.”
It’s no surprise that Alex and her older brother, Justin got into some disagreements as they grew up. During Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie, the two put aside their differences to save their parents and their younger brother, Max.
