World of Wonder produces the Emmy award-winning reality series, ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’

Streaming services aren’t just for television networks anymore. Recently, the company World of Wonder launched its own subscription platform. WOW Presents Plus provides users with hours of pop culture and LGBTQ+ centered television shows and mini-series’. That also includes episodes of the Emmy-award winning reality competition show, RuPaul’s Drag Race and its spin-offs.

“The ethos of World of Wonder has always been about building a community. From our TV shows and documentaries to our gallery space in Hollywood to our bi-coastal yearly conventions, our mission is to service our audience with programming, experiences, and product,” said founders Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato in a joint statement.

“Our streaming platform WOW Presents Plus is a natural extension of that mission statement, allowing us to produce and distribute content directly to our audience,” they continued. “The response for WOW Presents Plus over the past year has been incredible, and we are committed to continuing to expand the volume of content, as well as membership experience opportunities.”

World of Wonder premiered their streaming platform, WOW Presents Plus, during 2019

With WOW Presents Plus, episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK were available ahead of their United States television premiere, on the network Logo. Currently, every episode of the spin-off, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, is available on WOW Presents Plus. Beloved content from the WOW Presents YouTube channel, including shows like “M.U.G.” and “UNHhhh,” also premieres periodically on the company’s streaming platform.

Similar to streaming services like Disney+ and Netflix, WOW Presents Plus has plenty of original content, including shows hosted by Drag Race alumni. Additionally, according to their website, seasons 6, 7, 8 of RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked are also on this streaming platform. Will this streaming platform house new episodes of the Emmy-award winning television show?

Will WOW Presents Plus affect future seasons of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ and ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars’?

As of January 2020, no episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race are available for streaming with a WOW Presents Plus subscription. This lack of Drag Race content in the United States is most likely due to existing agreements that prevent the reality series from debuting on this streaming platform.

The streaming platform’s website states, “Most seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race are available everywhere except the United States, the United Kingdom [and] Ireland, and Canada. You can watch with exclusive clips that you can only find on WOW Presents Plus and select subtitles.”

Thankfully, this streaming platform should not affect the premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 12 and RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars 5, which has already been renewed by VH1. Fans anxiously await their premiere, as both seasons, in addition to Celebrity Drag Race, have already been filmed.
