Korean dramas come in a variety of flavors for any fan. Some K-dramas are rare short-season runtimes, long-season sitcoms, or 16-episodes. The K-drama XX offers a sweet spot for fans who want to watch a new drama but do not have the time for a typical full-length episode or season. The 2020 web drama has possible love, the drama between ex-best friends, and an intriguing setting.

‘XX’ K-drama is 5 episodes long with a short episodic runtime

K-dramas have often stuck to the golden rule of one season with 16 episodes. But K-dramas such as The Witch’s Diner and The Great Shaman Ga Doo-shim broke away from the rule and either had a short season or an episode run time of 20 minutes.

The K-drama XX is a perfect meld of both. Its runtime depends on the platform fans are watching it on. On Viki, XX’s storyline ends in five episodes, while V Live is a more extended season with 10 episodes. This is due to the runtime of the episodes.

On Viki, each XX episode is 50 minutes long. V Live instead shortens the episode to 25 minutes and cuts the storyline to make for a longer season. XX is also avaialbe on YouTube. Either way, both versions are ideal for fans who need a quick K-drama to satisfy their needs for a new storyline.

‘XX’ is about former best friends who collide at a speakeasy bar

In the K-drama XX, Yoon Na-na (Ahn Hee-yeon) is a friendly bartender at a speakeasy called XX. She dreams of saving enough money to buy the bar, but her dream crumbles when her ex-best friend returns to her life. Lee Roo-mi (Hwang Seung-eon) comes from a wealthy family and is Na-na’s former best friend.

When Roo-mi cannot find a location to open her own bar, she buys XX. She decides to keep Na-na as the head bartender. Fans can expect turmoil between the two characters as Na-na has not been in a relationship since her ex cheated on her with Roo-mi.

To add some possible romance, Park Dan-hee (Bae In-hyuk) is a former athlete whose career ended after an accident. He becomes a bartender at XX after being inspired by Na-na’s passion for it. Secretly, he is in love with her.
