Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan has officially completed his purchase of the Four Sixes Ranch in West Texas. Sheridan reportedly led an investor group that bought the legendary property — which was featured in season 4 of Yellowstone. And his wife Nicole says that with this purchase, they are “honoring and preserving a true western legacy.”

‘Yellowstone’ creator Taylor Sheridan bought the Four Sixes Ranch in its entirety

According to NBC5 in Dallas/Fort Worth, United Country Real Estate has announced that Sheridan and his group have officially closed on the sale of the Four Sixes Ranch — and it was sold in its entirety. The property was originally listed for $341 million, but the final sale price was not revealed.

The 6666 is one of the largest ranches in Texas, spanning more than 266,000 acres across four counties. It has a history that dates back to 1870. The property includes the main ranch in Guthrie and the Dixon Creek Ranch in Carson and Hutchinson counties. Also the Frisco Creek Ranch in Sherman County.

There is a home on the property that was built in 1917, and it’s still standing. It has a rich history on its own, welcoming the likes of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Will Rogers, and Quanah Parker.

The origin of the Four Sixes Ranch dates back to the post-Civil War era. A cattleman named Samuel “Burk” Burnett purchased 100 heads of cattle and named the land after the first brand he saw.

There’s also a Texas legend that claims Burnett won the ranch in a poker game, with four sixes as his winning hand.

The working ranch stayed in Burnett’s family until 2020, when his great-granddaughter Anne Burnett Marion passed away. In her will, she left instructions for the ranch to be sold.

“The right team was assembled to establish the value of the many aspects of the 6666 Ranch,” owner-broker Don Bell from United Country Real Estate said in a press release.“From the brand itself to the multifaceted operations and assets, the new owners understand this more holistic view of this historic ranch and are committed to keeping it intact and preserving its legacy.”

Sheridan’s wife Nicole backed up Bell’s claim in an Instagram post that featured her and the Yellowstone creator with their son, standing in front of their new home at the Four Sixes Ranch.

“Honoring and preserving a true western legacy. #home ❤️6666❤️,” Nicole Sheridan wrote in the caption.

‘6666’ is one of the many new series the ‘Yellowstone’ creator has in the works

Thanks to the success of Yellowstone and its prequel 1883, the Sheridan-verse is going to get a lot bigger on Paramount+.

One of his new series is titled 6666. That just happens to be where John Dutton (Kevin Costner) sent Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White) in Yellowstone season 4. The expectation is that Jimmy will be part of the new 6666 spinoff when it premieres later this year.

Sheridan has not revealed the specifics about his 6666 spinoff. But we do know from the series description that the ranch is the location of some of the finest cattle and quarter horses in the world.

“Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, the 6666 is where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing one does is the next thing,” the description reads.

Yellowstone season 5 premieres on the Paramount Network this summer. The spinoff 6666 will premiere on Paramount+ sometime in 2022.
