‘Yellowstone’ Season 4 Casting Shake-Up Has Fans Convinced Beth Dutton Survived the Season 3 Finale
Yellowstone fans continue to share their theories online about what the fallout will be from the explosive season 3 finale. With new episodes still a few months away, the Paramount Network has finally dropped a couple of season 4 teasers. There’s also been news of a cast shake-up. All of this has some fans convinced that Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) survived.
‘Yellowstone’ season 4 is all about revenge
After months of silence about Yellowstone season 4, the Paramount Network finally dropped the first teaser on July 1. The one-minute clip gave fans a hint about who survived the season 3 finale. It also revealed the news that season 4 won’t be premiering until the fall.
The teaser begins with a montage of the first three seasons that highlights the trauma the Dutton family has been through. Then, it shows the final moments of the season 3 finale that saw John (Kevin Costner), Beth, and Kayce (Luke Grimes) Dutton fighting for their lives.
The words “Revenge will be worth the wait” appear on the screen before the teaser reveals the first images of season 4. Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) runs to John lying on the side of the road and says, “John don’t you die on me now. Not like this, you hear me!”
The second teaser doubles down on the revenge theme
Not long after releasing the first teaser, Yellowstone’s Instagram page doubled down on the revenge theme in season 4 by posting a new ten-second teaser that has fans convinced somebody is going to die.
The brief clip didn’t come out and say it, but the symbolism is impossible to ignore — a crow. The bird flies around in a gray, ominous sky before landing on the Yellowstone Ranch’s “Y” logo. As the crow caws, the words “Revenge is worth the wait” appear on the screen.
The ‘Yellowstone’ cast shake-up has fans convinced Beth Dutton survived
Will all three Duttons make it to season 3? After seeing the first teaser, fans are sure that Rip found John in time to save him. They’re also confident that Kayce — a former Navy SEAL — can handle himself in the attack on his office. Now, in the wake of a Yellowstone cast shake-up — some fans are sure that Beth survived the season 3 finale.
The “Beth is alive” theory is a result of a report from Deadline that revealed a Yellowstone cast shake-up in season 4. Those Who Wish Me Dead star Finn Little has been added to the cast for season 4 as a series regular. The young actor will play the role of Carter, a teenage boy who the Dutton family takes in.
The casting announcement spells it out
In the casting announcement, it was revealed that Beth was behind Carter finding a home on the Dutton ranch. “Beth decides the ranch is the best place to teach the youth how to be a man,” the article reads.
That pretty much confirms that Beth is alive in season 4. As for the “revenge” in the upcoming season. Fans believe that will come from Rip, Beth’s fiancé. After all, she was the victim of a bomb exploding in her office.
If she does survive, she will probably have a long road to recovery. In the meantime, fans know that Rip won’t rest until he gets revenge on whoever hurt Beth, her father, and her brother.
‘Yellowstone’ is also adding three new recurring characters
Little isn’t the only actor who will be joining the cast in season 4. Nashville vet Kathryn Kelly will be a vet tech named Emily, a recurring character who forms a bond with a cowboy on the Dutton ranch.
Piper Perabo will be joining the cast as Summer Higgins, a political activist and protester from Portland. And Jacki Weaver will play Caroline Warner, the CEO of Market Equities.
Yellowstone season 4 premieres this fall on the Paramount Network. Seasons 1 through 3 are available on Peacock.
