Was Jamie responsible for the attacks in the ‘Yellowstone’ season 3 finale?

Season 3 of Yellowstone ended with what appeared to be a coordinated attack on the Dutton family. Patriarch John (Kevin Costner) was shot on the side of the road while helping a woman change a flat tire. Kayce (Luke Grimes) was heading for cover behind his desk after gunmen stormed his office. Beth was packing up her office when her assistant opened a package that exploded.

Fans have been sharing their theories about who lived and who died ever since the finale aired in August 2020. They’ve also been discussing who was behind the attacks. Some believe that Jamie is the one who is trying to take out his family so he can have control of the ranch.

Jamie and Beth have a serious sibling rivalry

It’s been clear since the premiere of Yellowstone that Jamie and Beth are not a loving brother and sister. But the reason for their hateful sibling rivalry wasn’t revealed until season 3.

In episode 5 “Cowboys and Dreamers,” the western jumped back to a time when Jamie and Beth actually got along. Fans saw a 15-year-old Beth turn to her brother after taking a pregnancy test that came up positive.

Jamie takes Beth to the reservation to get an abortion. As Beth waits in the car, the woman at the clinic tells Jamie to go to Planned Parenthood in Billings. But he refuses because everyone will know the Dutton name. It’s then made clear that a requirement to terminate a pregnancy at the reservation clinic is sterilization. Jamie agrees, and then goes back to the car and tells Beth everything’s OK.

Will Rip kill Jamie in season 4 of ‘Yellowstone’ when he finds out the truth?

When Beth later realized what Jamie had done, it caused a hatred that still persists. When the episode jumps back to the present, Beth is up in the middle of the night after having a “bad memory.” When Rip joins her on the porch, she tells him that she’s made two decisions in her life based on fear — and they cost her “everything.”

However, she didn’t tell Rip the details of her bad memory. But he does know that Beth can’t have children. Some fans believe that if Jamie sent the explosive to Beth’s office — and Rip finds out the truth about the abortion — it’s going to cost Jamie his life.

Season 4 is all about revenge

The recent Yellowstone promo promised that season 4 will be all about revenge. Fans have been discussing exactly what this means on Reddit. And some believe Rip is going to take Jamie out.

“Now that I know why Beth hates Jamie, I hope she murders him,” one fan wrote. Another added, “I’m so afraid Rip will kill him – or try.”

“He and Beth were scared,” a third fan wrote. “She has every right to be livid with him, especially since it seems he hasn’t acknowledged what he did, at least we haven’t been shown that, but I don’t think it’s worth him getting killed for.”

Could John Dutton kill Jamie in ‘Yellowstone’ season 4?

Many fans theorize that Jamie won’t make it past season 4. But there is some disagreement on who will end his life. Some believe it will be John Dutton (Kevin Costner) who kills his adopted son.

“John hates Jamie and wishes him dead,” one fan wrote. “The only reason John keeps Jamie around is because he can sometimes be useful to him.” Another added, “If Jamie dies, it will probably be John himself who puts a bullet in him.”
