Yellowstone Season 5 production is officially underway in Montana, and now the Paramount Network has revealed a premiere date. ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5 will be the longest yet

The first four seasons of Yellowstone have featured no more than ten episodes, but that will change in season 5. The upcoming season is going to be a big one — and it’s going to be divided into two halves. Fans will get to enjoy a total of 14 episodes in season 5, split into two sections with seven episodes each and a short break in the middle.

Filming began in mid-May, with Kevin Costner returning as rancher John Dutton. He’s joined by Luke Grimes (Kayce Dutton), Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton), and Wes Bentley (Jamie Dutton).

Other returning cast members include Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler), Kelsey Asbille (Monica Dutton), Brecken Merrill (Tate Dutton), Jefferson White (Jimmy Hurdstrom), Forrie Smith (Lloyd Pierce), Gil Birmingham (Chief Thomas Rainwater), Denim Richards (Colby), Ian Bohen (Ryan), Ryan Bingham (Walker), and Finn Little (Carter).

Yellowstone has also promoted two featured players into series regulars for season 5 — Jen Landon (Teeter) and Kathryn Kelly (Emily).

A season 5 premiere date has been set for ‘Yellowstone’

The wait between the explosive season 3 finale and the season 4 premiere was a whopping 15 months. The good news for Yellowstone fans is that the between-season break won’t be nearly as long.

The Paramount Network has announced that Yellowstone Season 5 will premiere on Sunday, November 13. That’s just 10 months after the season 4 finale, which pulled in an eye-popping 15 million viewers.

What’s more, the first half of season 5 will be used to launch Sheridan’s new series, The Tulsa King starring Sylvester Stallone. The mob drama will air on the Paramount Network after Yellowstone episodes in the first half of season 5 before moving to streamer Paramount+.

No details have been released about the plot of the new Yellowstone season. But season 4 ended with Jamie killing his biological father, and now he’s under the control of Beth and John. Jimmy will be back with his fiancee Emily, despite the couple heading to Texas in the season 4 finale.

Kayce and Monica are expecting another baby, but their future together doesn’t look good. After his vision quest in the season 4 finale, Kayce told his wife “I saw the end of us.”

The Taylor Sheridan-verse is expanding fast

When Yellowstone does take a break mid-season, that doesn’t mean there will be a lack of Dutton stories for viewers to enjoy. The prequel 1883 — which introduced fans to the first Dutton generation to settle in Montana — will return for “additional episodes” during the main series’ break.

Then, when Yellowstone Season 5 returns for part two, the Paramount Network introduces the next sequel, 1932. That series will star Harrison Ford and Hellen Mirren. And it will follow a new Dutton generation “during the time of western expansion, pandemics, Prohibition, and the Great Depression.”

Seasons 1 through 4 of Yellowstone are now streaming on Peacock.
