Yellowstone star Kevin Costner couldn’t help but brag this past weekend about the woman he took to the Oscars. The two-time Academy Award winner posted a photo on Instagram from the red carpet, and in the caption, he wrote, “How beautiful is my date?”
Costner was referring to his wife of 18 years, Christine Baumgartner, who stood out at the awards ceremony in a stunning black-and-white strapless gown. Here’s everything we know about this blonde beauty.

During Costner’s rise to fame in the 1980s, he was married to his first wife, Cindy Silva. They were married from 1978 to 1994. And during that time they welcomed three children: Lily, Annie, and Joe.
After Costner’s split from Silva, he says his approach to love changed. In a 2012 interview, Costner confessed that his “faith was shaken” after his divorce.
“No one wants their marriage to end, and it did. You are going to see the people you love most, your children, only half as much. That’s a huge loss,” Costner said, per Us Weekly.
From 1995 to 1998, the Dances with Wolves star dated Bridget Rooney and they welcomed a son named Liam. Following his breakup with Rooney, Costner started dating Baumgartner after they ran into each other at a restaurant.
The pair had met years earlier on a golf course when he was rehearsing for his role in Tin Cup and she was working as a professional model. Costner and Baumgartner tied the knot in 2004. But before they became husband and wife, the couple briefly split.

Costner and Baumgartner officially started dating in 1999. But after four years together, they briefly called it quits because they couldn’t agree on having children.
“Fear kept me from marrying Christine. [She] wanted a child, but I was afraid I couldn’t be an effective father…” Costner shared. “She said, ‘I’m going to wait for you, but not long. When you come to your senses, come back to me.’ And I did.”
Costner recalled waking up one day and thinking “Am I going to lose a beautiful woman who is willing to be with me to my very last breath because I am afraid to say yes to a child?” He says “that’s all it took. Sometimes you learn the thing you’re most afraid of will save your life.”
The Yellowstone star gave his relationship with the fashion designer another shot. And after they tied the knot on Costner’s property in Aspen, they welcomed three children together. Baumgartner gave birth to their first child, a son named Cayden, in 2007. Two years later, they welcomed son Hayes. And in 2010, they completed their family with daughter Grace.

Aside from a few movie premieres, Costner and Baumgartner have opted to raise their children out of the Hollywood spotlight. The family spends the majority of their time on their 165-acre Dunbar Ranch. Which features a private ice rink and a baseball field.
“It’s just beautiful, with three lakes and a river running through it,” Costner told Closer. “My whole family spends some of our best times there.”
