You Can Now Show Your Love For ‘The Simpsons’ With Your Footwear
Sneaker fans who also happen to enjoy the antics of Bart Simpson are in luck. Vans is partnering up with The Simpsons to bring the pop culture icons that are the Simpson family to a line of footwear. The recent announcement has delighted sneaker enthusiasts and fans of the iconic cartoon, alike.
What will be included in The Simpsons X Vans pack?
The Simpsons has been on the air for more than 30 years. During its 31-year run, a variety of classic TV moments have occurred. Some of those moments will be immortalized in the artwork that will appear on The Simpsons X Vans collection. The collaboration will include at least five sneaker styles, along with tee-shirts, backpacks, and other apparel.
The SK8 Hi shoe, along with the Slip-On, the Old Skool, the Era, and the Chukka Pro, will be included in the collaboration. The SK8 Hi features a black suede toe box and heel. The mid of the shoe is done up in white leather and will feature the Simpsons family. The canvas slip-on shoe features printed fabric that includes many of the characters that have appeared on the show over the years.
When can fans pick up the sneakers?
Fans of the series will be able to pick up the much-anticipated sneakers sooner rather than later. While originally believed to be slated for a Fall 2020 release date, Sneaker News has now pegged the collection’s official release date for August 7, 2020.
The collection will be released on the official Vans website, as well as select online retailers. In recent months, high-demand sneaker releases have been online only due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The same seems to be true for this upcoming release, as well.
This isn’t Vans first collaboration with The Simpsons
Vans has offered a collaboration with the famed cartoon in the past. Back in 2007, Vans teamed up with Kaws and The Simpsons to create a mid-top boot. The chukka boot featured Kaws sketched versions of The Simpsons characters, drawn in blueprint blue. The sneaker’s base featured a notebook design, with the white upper interspersed with blue, notebook lines. The sneaker is so rare that it last sold on an aftermarket website for $1000. The shoe retailed for $100 in 2007, according to StockX.
Vans has been busy collaborating with other major franchises, too. In 2019, Vans teamed up with Harry Potter to offer several sneakers that paid homage to the franchise. The collaboration featured Harry Potter artwork on several of the company’s most beloved styles, like the Sk8 Hi. The collection also included shirts and backpacks.
