Rapper Young Dolph was shot and killed inside of a cookie shop in Memphis, Tennessee
Young Dolph, whose real name is Adolph Robert Thornton Jr., was a beloved rap artist living in Memphis, Tennessee. He was also known for loving Makeda’s Butter Cookies, a local cookie shop. WREG Memphis reports Young Dolph was inside of Makeda’s Butter Cookies when people drove by in a car and shot him. The incident took place on Nov. 17, 2021.
A week before Young Dolph’s death, Makeda’s featured him on their Instagram. The black-owned business knew Young Dolph loved and supported their shop. They posted their condolences after the tragedy.
“Because of this senseless tragedy, Makeda’s Cookies has decided to close today,” the company posted to Facebook. “We are heartbroken and saddened by the passing of Young Dolph. He was a regular customer and loved Makeda’s Cookies. Our hearts and condolences go out to his family.”
Who is Mia Jaye, the woman many fans thought was Young Dolph’s wife? How many kids did they have?
Many fans thought Mia Jaye was Young Dolph’s wife — but it seems they never married. Instead, they sustained a long-term partnership. According to Distractify Mia Jaye and Young Dolph began dating over a decade ago. They reportedly met when Jaye worked at a boutique real estate firm.
As for more about Jaye, she reportedly worked in real estate after graduating from the University of Memphis. According to her personal website, she later left the field to pursue other avenues. In 2015, she created Fresh Start Kidz Inc., and she self-published a book to promote children’s health. Currently, she has a lifestyle brand named The Mom and CEO, and she hosts the podcast Mia Jaye’s Toolbox.
Distractify notes Young Dolph and Mia Jaye have two children together. Tré was born in June 2014 and is currently 7 years old. Aria was born in April 2017 and is 4 years old. In 2020, the rap artist talked to GQ about what it was like spending more time with his family during the pandemic, too.
“Aw, man, we watching movies, we having [toy] gunfights, we on the trampoline, we doing everything,” Young Dolph said. “We playing. I’m in my daughter’s room, I’m in her little castle thing she got. She crawl in, I’m crawling my big a** in that motherf***er. I’m in their world right now. Everything they like to do, everything they play, I’m all in that world right now. I’m just a big-a** kid right now.”

After Young Dolph’s death, Mia Jaye posted to her Instagram Stories to thank her followers for their condolences.
“Question is … how am I ever going to tell my babies that daddy is never coming home?” she posted, according to People. In another slide, she added, “Thank you to everyone for all of your prayers, love, support, calls, messages … I may not see them all but when my eyes are not full of tears, I catch a few. Nonetheless, all the genuine positive vibes, energy, and prayers are welcome … because Lord knows I need them.”
