Youtuber, Corey La Barrie. Dies in Car Accident, ‘Ink Masters’ Star, Daniel Silva, Is Believed to Have Been Behind the Wheel
A car accident in Los Angeles has left YouTube star, and Instagram influencer, Corey La Barrie dead, and another man believed to be Ink Master’s star, Daniel Silva, hospitalized. Police were called to the scene of the single-car accident on May 10. While the official details of the crash have not been released, reports indicate that La Barrie was a passenger in a McLaren sports car, driven by Silva, when the accident occurred. Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the deadly crash.

The Los Angeles Police Department refused to confirm the identities of the crash victims, but La Barrie’s mother, Lissa Harrison, confirmed her son’s death on Instagram. La Barrie’s brother, Jarrad La Barrie, also confirmed his passing via Instagram, noting that his brother was a passenger in the vehicle and the victim of a drunk driving accident.
According to Complex, witnesses at a party that La Barrie attended earlier in the evening, stated that Silva was at the party and had been drinking before leaving. The vehicle reportedly crashed into a street sign before also impacting a tree. Both La Barrie and the driver were transported to the hospital. According to official reports, La Barrie was pronounced dead at an area hospital. The driver, who is believed to have been Silva, was also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Silva is believed to still be hospitalized.
The police department has not yet released the cause of the accident. Witnesses, however, claim that alcohol and high rates of speed likely played a role in the crash. Charges against Silva are believed to be forthcoming. Reportedly, he is still hospitalized. It is thought that he will be charged upon discharge, although the LAPD has not made an official statement regarding potential charges. According to TMZ, Silva sustained a broken hip in the accident.

La Barrie was best known for his comedic YouTube videos, many of which featured a growing list of pals. The star was born in Adelaide, Australia, and moved to LA to further pursue his YouTube career. His channel had amassed more than 300,000 followers at the time of his death. On Instagram, La Barrie had more than 200,000 fans.
In the weeks leading up to his death, La Barrie took to social media to share his thoughts on the Coronavirus quarantine. He uploaded several videos about life in lockdown, often featuring his roommates. Just 24 hours before his death, La Barrie posted a video to YouTube asking his fans to join him for his 25th birthday celebration on Twitch. He went live at 1 pm on the gaming platform. Later that evening, La Barrie attended a birthday bash in his honor. Where the star and Silva were headed when their vehicle crashed, remains unknown.

La Barrie’s death sent shockwaves through the YouTube community, with stars reaching out to send their condolences to La Barrie’s family. Several content creators shared fond memories of La Barrie and were quick to note that his friendly, gentle nature made them feel welcomed. Ryan Abe, best known for his YouTube channel, RyansAverageLife, took to Twitter to pay tribute to his friend. Abe recounted how La Barrie had helped him feel comfortable and confident when he moved to LA. He made the cross country move from New Jersey in February 2020.
Sadly, La Barrie’s death isn’t the first time the content community has been rocked by a tragic loss. On April 16, it was revealed that Steve Cash, best known for his Talking Kitty Cat videos, had died. Cash’s death was ruled a suicide. He was 40.
