Zendaya Wore an Outfit From Target to Her 1st Movie Premiere: ‘I Thought I Was Fly’
One of the biggest and most talked-about names in TV, movies, and style right now is Zendaya. With megahits like Euphoria and Dune as well as the Spider-man franchise, her fandom continues to grow. The 25-year-old is a top-notch actor and an absolute master at what she does. But she’s also known for her incredible style and fashion.
In a recent interview, Zendaya opened up about her style and recounts some of her favorite red carpet looks. She even admits to wearing an outfit from Target for her first movie premiere. “I thought I was fly,” Zendaya explained as she shared more about her life.
Zendaya can rock a Target outfit
Zendaya talked with InStyle about all things fashion, the red carpet, and living her best life. During the interview, the Dune star recalled her first-ever red carpet movie premiere. She was 14 at the time and without a care in the world.
Zendaya recalled wearing a full-on outfit from Target, thinking she was fly. “I felt cool,” she said and went on to share, “That’s really all that matters.” It’s hard to believe how confident she might be in Target attire, considering she wears Valentino and reles on the keen eye for trending styles from legendary stylist Law Roach.
Zendaya’s stylist weighs in on her look
Zendaya told InStyle about how “cool” it is when the creative director for Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli, puts together “beautiful silhouettes” for her to wear. Roach has her name expressly stitched into each piece, making it uniquely hers.
Zendaya explains that he always wants her to feel confident and “be who you are,” understanding just how special and big of a deal it is to be a featured talent for Valentino.
The Sun talks about Zendaya’s stylist, the iconic Roach. He is the first black man to be featured as The Hollywood Reporter’s Most Powerful Stylists. He’s designed incredible looks for some of the biggest names in the business, including Celine Dion and, of course, Zendaya. Just Jared Jr. shared more details about Roach’s relationship with Zendaya, which goes back to when she was 14, making them more like family than stylist and client.
Some of Zendaya’s most iconic styles
During the InStyle interview, Zendaya talks about some of her favorite ensembles. She says one of her most memorable outfits was the pink Tom Ford breastplate she donned for the Critics’ Choice Awards in 2020. She also mentioned a particular love for the Moschino butterfly dress she wore at the premiere of The Greatest Showman in Australia in 2017. The Joan of Arc look at the 2018 Met Gala is certainly a top pick, too.
Zendaya doesn’t have any fashion or style regrets either — even that one time she sported the David Bowie look at the Grammys in 2016. She shared she “got dragged” for that mullet. But “kids love mullets now,” and she’s happy about her decision to run with it when she did.
As big of a starlet as she is to her fans, Zendaya isn’t shy about embracing who she really is and wearing her looks proudly. She’ll likely continue to be a fashion force to be reckoned with no matter what she wears. Because if she can feel cool in a Target outfit or with a David Bowie mullet, there’s nothing she can’t do. And that may be part of why fans adore her.
