For all those who didn’t catch A Complete Unknown in theaters or those who simply want to watch it again—good news! ‘A Complete Unknown’ begins streaming on March 27, 2025
Mark the calendar for late March. A Complete Unknown begins streaming on Hulu starting March 27, 2025, according to Variety. (That’s a little more than a week away at the time of writing.)
The announcement comes after A Complete Unknown landed many nominations—and multiple wins—during the 2025 awards show season. The musical biopic garnered eight Academy Award nominations, from best picture to best actor for Chalamet.
Ultimately, the movie didn’t win any Oscars. However, Chalamet did win a SAG Award for his performance as the “Like a Rolling Stone” singer.
What is ‘A Complete Unknown’ about?
A Complete Unknown tracks Dylan’s time in New York City in the early 1960s. Namely, how his new sound—a mix between electric and folk—led to a rift in the local musical community. Additional storylines include young Dylan’s romance with singer-songwriter Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro) and his mentorship with Pete Seeger (Edward Norton).
A Complete Unknown hit theaters on Dec. 25, 2025, and quickly became a box office hit. The movie, directed by James Mangold, became Searchlight’s sixth-highest domestic-grossing film with $74 million.
