Behind-the-Scenes in Meghan Markle’s Kitchen: Netflix Series Director Spills the Tea
The director of Meghan Markle‘s streaming series With Love, Meghan, spilled the tea regarding life behind the scenes of the Netflix lifestyle series. ‘Everyone has their own version of her’ says Meghan Markle’s director
Michael Steed, who directed With Love, Meghan for Netflix, shared his experiences working with Meghan Markle on the kitchen set of her lifestyle series. Additionally, Steed worked on the CNN series Parts Unknown with Anthony Bourdain.
“Everyone has their own version of her, but she’s just someone who’s constantly hustling and working,” he told People Magazine. Likewise, Steed “really wanted to create an environment where [Meghan] could relax, especially given the pressures she faces daily. I’m glad we could create moments where she could tap into a different side of herself.”
Therefore, Steed captured spontaneous moments that revealed Meghan’s authentic self beyond the public’s perception. His goal was to highlight her relatable side.
“For me, imperfection is a wonderful thing. It was fun watching her trying to get used to the kitchen because it’s not her place, so we didn’t hide that fact, and she’s kind of walking and looking for things. I really wanted to embrace and celebrate all of the mistakes and mess and all that good stuff,” Steed added.
Meghan Markle’s cute nickname for her director

As the crew cultivated a family-like atmosphere on the set of With Love, Meghan, Meghan Markle gave director Michael Steed a cute nickname. It was subsequently connected to his intention to keep Meghan and the crew focused on the tasks at hand.
Steed revealed to People Magazine, that Meghan would often play music between takes. However, his goal was to ensure the show continued on schedule.
“I was always the one who had to turn the music off,” Steed admitted. “That was my role to keep everything on track. She’d call me the ‘Brooklyn Bummer.’”
