Ben Affleck Steps Out in LA After Addressing ‘Absurd’ Tabloid Rumors About His Life
Ben Affleck was out and about in LA on Sunday, just weeks ahead of the premiere of his new movie, The Accountant 2, which opens on April 25.
Photographers captured the Oscar-winning actor and director dropping off his black SUV with a valet on March 30. The sighting comes shortly after Affleck gave a candid interview where he discussed his attitude about bizarre tabloid rumors and the paparazzi.

Affleck recently sat down for a lengthy conversation with GQ about his career and his headline-generating personal life, including his 2024 split from Jennifer Lopez. He acknowledged that people were interested in the “soap opera” of his life but suggested that most people’s ideas about him – including the interviewer’s – weren’t based in reality.
“I was thinking to myself that this person’s impression of my week is probably formed by three Daily Mail articles that are mostly absurd,” he said.

The Good Will Hunting star pointed to recent reports that the FBI had visited his home. He said that the visit had happened, but they weren’t there to speak to him specifically. Agents were simply following up on “a break-in of a federal official’s home in that area,” he said. “So the FBI went around and whoever lived there, the FBI rang their bell.”

Affleck said he wasn’t sure why he was the subject of such intense scrutiny, but he speculated it had to do with his lack of interest in maintaining a meticulously curated image for the public.
“I think I don’t present in a very careful way. So I’ll go out and pick up the packages or deliveries and I don’t really care that people are there to take my picture,” he said. (He later confessed that he found the “sad Affleck meme spilling coffee … kind of funny.”)

“My life is actually pretty drama-free,” Affleck went on to say. Take his divorce from Lopez. Despite rampant speculation, the circumstances of their breakup were actually “quotidian … there’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue.” The Argo director stressed that he has “a lot of respect” for his ex, despite their different approaches to managing the divide between their “public and private life.”
While Affleck didn’t expound on exactly what caused him and Lopez to end their relationship, he said people would find the real truth about their divorce incredibly dull.
“[A]ll of this is pretty adult,” he said. “And for all the sensational stuff that gets written, if somebody sat down and talked to me about it, and I said, ‘Well, this is really the experience,’ their eyes would glaze over with boredom.”
