Bindi Irwin, the daughter of Crocodile Hunter stars Terri Irwin and the late Steve Irwin, had a recent health scare that resulted in emergency surgery. Now, Bindi is making a plea after sharing her story and hoping to raise awareness about endometriosis.

Bindi dealt with an unexplainable pain as well as fatigue and nausea for years before having to undergo surgery for endometriosis in 2023. On May 12, 2025, she shared that she had surgery again. This time, Bindi had her appendix and 14 endometriosis lesions removed.

In an Instagram video posted shortly after that surgery, the Season 21 Dancing With the Stars champion thanked her doctors, family, and fans for all their support.

Two weeks later, Bindi shared another Instagram post explaining that she wants to raise awareness about the “crippling” disease.

“Healing. Thank you for your incredible words of support and kindness,” she captioned a carousel of photos. “The reason I share my health journey is because more girls and women desperately need answers to their undiagnosed pain. I’ve battled with endometriosis for more than 12 years. This disease is crippling and can make you feel incredibly isolated. We need to raise awareness and change the narrative for women’s health. I see you, your pain is real, and you deserve answers and genuine health care.”

Bindi added the handle to the Endometriosis Foundation of America in her caption.
