In 2021, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani married after nearly six years of dating. They got together while both were dealing with the fallout of their divorces from Miranda Lambert and Gavin Rossdale. They gushed over one another and expressed gratitude for the life they’ve built together. According to Shelton, they only have one regret about their relationship.

Blake Shelton said he and Gwen Stefani only have 1 regret about their marriage

After nearly a decade with Stefani, Shelton reflected on the lasting success of his relationship. He said he considers her his best friend.

“She’s my best friend; that’s the best way I know to say it, and it’s not something that we have to really think about — it’s just there,” he told Access Hollywood. “And we have fun with it — maybe that’s the key. We have so much fun together. Whether we’re having a cup of coffee in the morning, watching a movie, or performing in an arena somewhere.”

Still, he said they both share a regret about their relationship. It’s a romantic regret, though.

“We literally just have so much fun together, and the only regret that we have is that we didn’t find each other until late in life, you know?” he said. “But [we] also know that we had to go through everything we went through to get us to there. But we’re just grateful, and we have fun.”

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani had a small wedding

After getting engaged in 2020, Shelton and Stefani tied the knot in 2021. They married on their Oklahoma ranch, with only 40 guests in attendance. They wanted the ceremony to be as private and intimate as possible. Shelton even built a chapel on the property.

“They purposely kept the wedding simple,” a source close to the couple told People. “They didn’t want a circus. In the end, they just wanted to have this moment with their loved ones.”

Their primary goal was to bring their families together.

“They’re a very family-oriented couple, and that’s exactly what the wedding was about,” added the source. “Family was at the center of everything.”

They leaned on each other through their respective divorces

Stefani and Shelton bonded over the pain of their divorces. When Shelton announced his divorce to the Voice coaches, Stefani was still keeping the end of her marriage a secret. She privately confided in Shelton afterward because she felt so relieved to know someone going through the same thing as her.

“[I felt] exposed somehow, you know?” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “But it was like being handed this gift of a friend who was going through the exact same thing at the exact same time.”
