Carrie Underwood and Husband Mike Fisher Follow These ‘Rules’ When She’s Filming ‘American Idol’
American Idol Season 23 is in full swing, and Carrie Underwood is a welcome change to the judge’s table. Underwood won season 4 of the singing reality competition series and has become a household name in country music. While she’s known for her incredible voice, she’s also a proud mom of two sons with her husband, Mike Fisher. Here are the “rules” that she and Fisher allegedly follow while she’s filming the series.
Carrie Underwood allegedly follows ‘rules’ while filming ‘American Idol’ to maintain her marriage with Mike Fisher
American Idol Season 23 fans are ecstatic to see Carrie Underwood judge alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. Underwood is known as one of the most successful singers to win the competition series. While she’s thankful to take part in Idol this season, it also means taking a step back from her family. Underwood has two sons, Isaiah, 9, and Jacob, 5, with her husband of nearly 15 years, Mike Fisher. A source told Life & Style that Underwood and Fisher have had “challenges” in their marriage and now have “rules” for Underwood to follow while filming.
“There are challenges, but they are fighters,” the insider alleged. “Carrie and Mike have their own set of rules to make it work, like never going more than a week without seeing each other and FaceTiming every night, even if it’s just for a few minutes.”
Underwood and Fisher have been together long enough that they feel very secure in their marriage. “Carrie doesn’t need constant reassurance, and Mike isn’t the jealous type,” the source continued. And when the going gets tough, “they always lean on their faith.”
“They make up for the time away by packing in tons of family activities,” the insider added. “She and Mike have date nights, too, and appreciate every moment.”
Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher are ‘happier than ever,’ another source says
American Idol judge Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher have had ups and downs in their marriage. However, a source told DailyMail.com in January 2025 that the couple feels “happier than ever.” Fisher and Underwood are allegedly “very protective of their family life” and hope to continue to maintain their privacy.
“When it comes to sharing things on social media, Carrie keeps it professional and focused on her career,” the source explained. “Of course, she’s incredibly proud of her family — and they were there to cheer her on at the Inauguration.”
The source noted that Underwood and Fisher “used to share more” online, but they’ve experienced “a lot of trolling” and don’t want to “put themselves through any unnecessary negativity. There are a lot of haters out there, and both Carrie and Mike like to keep things positive.”
Underwood and Fisher are now “enjoying” keeping their private life to themselves.
The couple has allegedly had problems with the ‘American Idol’ winner’s hectic schedule
Carrie Underwood is incredibly busy whether she’s filming with American Idol or touring the world. In July 2024, she brought Mike Fisher to her concert in Hawaii. A source told Globe Magazine that the Hawaii trip didn’t go as planned.
“It was supposed to be a vacation in paradise, but she was either working or with her band, and Mike felt left out,” the source alleged, according to The Mirror US. “Sure, she posed for snaps with him, but she was consumed with work.”
The source noted that Fisher planned on heading to Las Vegas for Underwood’s residency later that month “more as a kid-sitter than lover.” While he hoped for alone time, Underwood’s strict schedule didn’t make it easy. “She always promises to make more time for him, but then before long, she’s back to making life all about work, or the kids, with Mike feeling stuck in last place,” the source added.
Hopefully, Underwood and Fisher have worked out their schedules for her time on American Idol Season 23.
American Idol Season 23 airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
