Ciara Approves of Russell Wilson’s New NFL Assignment
The NFL is just over a month into its offseason, but there is no rest for teams on the hunt for new quarterbacks. While some teams will focus their attention on the upcoming draft, others are opting to search for tested quarterbacks. The New York Giants have found their signal-caller in Russell Wilson, an NFL veteran. His songstress wife, Ciara, is thrilled with the prospect of spending the season in New York.
Ciara endorses Russell Wilson’s move to New York
New York Giants fans remain divided on whether picking up Wilson was a good move for the team. The Giants haven’t had luck with young signal-callers in recent years. Still, fans are also wary of a veteran taking over the job. Fans might be unsure about the move, but Ciara, Russell Wilson’s wife, is thrilled about her husband playing for a New York team.

Following reports of the move, Ciara took to Instagram to celebrate the big change. She first shared Russell Wilson’s announcement on her Instagram Stories, then shared a picture of Wilson in a New York Yankees jersey. She opted to add ‘Empire State of Mind’ to the post, calling her husband her greatest inspiration.
While Ciara didn’t grow up in New York, she did live in the state as a child. Ciara was raised in a military family and moved often as a result. Her upbringing might have prepared her for life as an NFL wife. The Giants will be the fourth team Wilson has played for since the duo tied the knot in 2016.

Wilson and Ciara have both spoken openly about their romance. The couple shares three children. Ciara also has a son from a previous relationship.
Russell Wilson was reportedly less excited about the move
While Ciara is excited about moving to the tri-state area, Russell Wilson was reportedly committed to staying in Pittsburgh until the last minute. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Wilson was willing to negotiate with the Steelers until the last minute.

Wilson, who was raised in Virginia, spent the bulk of his career on the West Coast. He was picked by the Seattle Seahawks during the 2012 NFL draft and remained with the team until 2021. He was traded to the Denver Broncos in 2022 before landing in Pittsburgh for the 2024 season. It is unclear how many more seasons Wilson plans to spend in the NFL. The upcoming season will be his 13th.
