Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. He’ll head to trial in May 2025 and has been denied bail three times, meaning he’ll stay in jail until his trial date. Years before Combs had to endure difficult prison conditions, he admitted that he considers himself to be a “hypochondriac.” Here’s what he said.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs once said he considered himself a ‘hypochondriac’

Sean “Diddy” Combs has no problem getting candid with Ellen DeGeneres. In 2017, he went on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to discuss keeping up with his health as a performing media mogul.

DeGeneres discussed the content in Combs’ documentary, Can’t Stop Won’t Stop. The documentary footage shows Combs receiving injections in his rear end and acupuncture. He explained to DeGeneres that he received the injections to retain his peak physical condition while performing.

“I have to get, sometimes, shots in my butt so I could perform,” Combs explained as the footage played behind him. “Because I got older, I need as much help as I can get.”

DeGeneres noted that when Combs last appeared on her show, he had an IV bag of fluids with him. This gave him an important realization about himself.

“You know what I just realized?” he said. “I’m a hypochondriac. I think that’s it. I’m looking at the movie — I didn’t really need the shot in my butt. I have an IV; I really wasn’t thirsty. You know what I’m saying?”

Combs verified that his IV bag was full of vitamins. “I mean, I work hard, and I play hard, too. So, then I try to balance it sometimes with the means of Western medicine.”

The Metropolitan Detention Center has a reputation for its poor conditions. Before Sean “Diddy” Combs was admitted to the jail, convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell complained about the state of her living situation.

“I have not had a nutritious meal in all that time,” Maxwell told DailyMail.com, according to the New York Post. “I haven’t slept without lights on – fluorescent lights that have damaged my eyes – or been allowed to sleep without constant interruptions.”

Others in the prison complained of rotting food, freezing temperatures, and lighting outages.

Combs’ lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, told reporters about the “roughest part” of Combs’ life behind bars.

“I think the food’s probably the roughest part of it,” Agnifilo told reporters, according to E! News.

Combs’ other attorney, Anthony L. Ricco, noted that Combs is “making an adjustment” to his new living situation.

“Sometimes, the more you push a person down, the stronger they get,” Ricco said. “Nobody’s OK with staying in jail.”

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is allegedly getting along well with the other inmates in prison

Sean “Diddy” Combs might be the most popular inmate at the Metropolitan Detention Center. An inmate told FOX 5 reporter and Street Soldiers host Lisa Evers that Combs has a “super strong” energy while in jail, and he appears “super comfortable.”

“He’s cool … he always wants everybody to be happy,” the inmate said. Combs currently lives in a dorm-style cell with 20 other men. The inmate added that Combs tells the other prisoners to “smile” when he sees them.

Combs allegedly also has “groupies” in jail who vie for his attention. “They [were] being around him, jealous of another dude because he’s closer to another dude,” the inmate admitted.
