Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life ended with Rory Gilmore revealing she was pregnant. Lauren Graham confirmed that the artwork seen during the recent Gilmore Girls-themed Walmart commercial belonged to Rory’s child. While fans of the series haven’t gotten a second revival, they can always theorize about Rory’s life and child. If you look back, though, Emily Gilmore actually foreshadowed Rory and Logan Huntzberger having a baby.

A season 5 comment foreshadowed Rory Gilmore’s pregnancy

When Gilmore Girls fans left Rory and Logan in 2007, they were not together. In fact, it seemed likely that the pair’s paths wouldn’t ever cross again. Fans were wrong. When Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life premiered, viewers learned that Rory and Logan were carrying on an affair. That affair, presumably, led to Rory’s pregnancy in what was supposed to be a “full-circle” moment, according to Amy Sherman-Palladino. The idea of Rory Gilmore and Logan Huntzberger welcoming a baby together might have shocked some fans, but Emily Gilmore foreshadowed the event many years earlier.

In season 5 of Gilmore Girls, Richard and Emily Gilmore were thrilled when Rory revealed she was dating Logan Huntzberger. Richard was more interested in letting the duo keep things casual, but Emily foreshadowed the pair welcoming a child together. In the episode, she mused that they’d have a cute baby, stating, “Imagine his blond hair and her blue eyes on a little baby.”

Emily Gilmore foreshadowed Lorelai and Luke’s relationship, too

It seems Emily Gilmore was often used as a bit of a soothsayer in Gilmore Girls. Rory and Logan’s eventual pregnancy isn’t the only foreshadowing she was responsible for. Emily Gilmore called Lorelai and Luke’s romance back in season 1, although she probably would have liked to be wrong about it.

In season 1, episode 6, Emily and Richard Gilmore travel to Stars Hollow for Rory’s 16th birthday party. During the party, Emily watched Luke and Lorelai interact and decided the duo must be a couple. When she had Lorelai alone, she questioned how long they had been dating and noted Lorelai was “pleased” with herself because of Luke’s attraction to her. While Luke and Lorelai’s chemistry was clear from the start, Emily’s comments in season 1 were the first time anyone approached the topic head-on. It took several more seasons for them to get together and 16 years to get them down the aisle.
