Georgina Chapman Didn’t Like Halle Berry Joke-Kissing Adrien Brody, Body Language Expert Says

Before winning, he and Halle Berry recreated their iconic Oscars kiss. While they were just having fun, Brody’s girlfriend, Georgina Chapman, might not have loved the actors’ interaction. Georgina Chapman’s laughter was ‘purely for show’ during Halle Berry and Adrien Brody’s moment, an expert says
Adrien Brody and Halle Berry had an unforgettable moment at the Oscars in 2003. Brody pulled Berry in for a kiss while on stage for winning Best Actor for The Pianist. In 2025, Berry did the same to Brody while on the red carpet, prompting laughter from both parties.
Brody attended the 97th Annual Academy Awards with fashion designer Georgina Chapman. Chapman and Brody have been connected since 2020. Before dating Brody, Chapman was married to Harvey Weinstein.
Body language expert Inbaal Honigman spoke to Covers.com about Brody and Berry’s latest Oscars smooch.
“On the red carpet, Halle Berry approaches Adrien Brody and gives him a deliberately unromantic kiss,” Honigman noted. “Their arms are around each other, but Halle’s hand is flexed against Adrien’s shoulder, creating a slight pushing motion rather than pulling him closer. Meanwhile, her other hand hooks around his neck, putting her firmly in control of the joke-kiss.”
“This playful moment recreates their infamous Oscars moment from 2003, when Halle presented Adrien with his Best Actor Academy Award, and he spontaneously kissed her on stage,” Honigman continued. “This time, however, it’s an inside joke, but with Halle dictating the interaction.”
While Chapman “acts as though she is unbothered by the moment,” Honigman says “her body language tells a different story.”
“She throws her arms wide and turns her palms upwards, a symbolic gesture of welcoming Halle into the joke,” the expert continued. “However, when she claps, her hands rise unnaturally high, covering her body, suggesting a protective instinct rather than genuine enthusiasm.”
“Her laughter also appears exaggerated,” Honigman said. “She bends over in apparent amusement, but her eyes never leave the back of Halle’s neck. This forced reaction suggests that her giggles are purely for show.”
The body language expert says Brody could pick up on Chapman’s discomfort, prompting him to kiss her and give her “silent reassurance that she is the one who truly has his heart.”
Halle Berry said the fashion designer was fine with the kiss
Halle Berry wouldn’t have gone for such a brazen act without Georgina Chapman’s blessing. She spoke to Extra about how she waited “21 years” to “slap one on” Adrien Brody.
“Only because she was fine could I do it,” Berry pointed out.
Extra caught up with Chapman after Berry playfully smooched Brody on the Academy Awards red carpet. “I mean, you know, how can you deny a man a kiss with Halle Berry?” Chapman said in good spirits.

Body language expert Inbaal Honigman noted that Adrien Brody showed “a hint of vulnerability” before his name was announced for the Best Actor award.
“Once his name is called, Brody instinctively raises his hands to his face, covering his eyes,” Honigman said. “This brief moment of privacy allows him to process the magnitude of the win before stepping into the spotlight.” He then took his time to get to the stage and danced with Georgina Chapman.
“As they hug, she digs her fingers into his back, a silent but strong gesture of support and solidarity,” the expert continued. “Overcome with gratitude, he doesn’t rush toward his statuette. He pauses to make ‘prayer hands’ to the audience, a gesture of deep appreciation, and blows air kisses before beginning his ascent to the stage.”
Honigman explained how Brody handing his gum off to Chapman shows “the depth of their connection.”
“But then, an unexpected moment; he abruptly turns back,” she continued. “Realizing he still has gum in his mouth, he pulls it out inelegantly. Georgina immediately recognizes his distress and steps in to help, catching the gum as he tosses it toward her. Love or hate the gum moment, it reveals the depth of their connection; he instinctively knew who to turn to, and she anticipated his need before he even voiced it.”
