Glen Powell Says Sydney Sweeney Is ‘Great Friends’ With His Sister
Just friends?
Rumors have been swirling that Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney are an item after candid photos revealed she was a guest at his sister’s recent wedding. When quizzed about his relationship with his Anyone But You co-star during an appearance on Today, the Twisters actor played coy, stressing that Sweeney was a friend of his younger sibling, Leslie Powell.
Sydney Sweeney was a guest at Glen Powell’s sister’s wedding
On April 2, Powell sat down with Today’s Jenna Bush Hager and guest host Olivia Munn. Hager couldn’t resist ribbing the actor about the recent speculation about his love life.
“The wedding caused a little bit of a stir. Did that surprise you?” she asked.
“Timing is everything,” Powell replied with a laugh. “[Leslie] and Syd are obviously great friends. It was a hell of a wedding. The Powells know how to do it right.”
“All the people that love her were there,” he added of his sister’s big day, where he served as a groomsman and an unofficial “master of ceremonies.” Leslie Powell is a musician who has contributed songs to Anyone But You and other movies.
Sydney Sweeney reportedly calls off engagement
Rumors about Powell and Sweeney’s relationship come amid reports that she has ended things with Jonathan Davino, her fiancé of three years.
Neither Powell nor Sweeney have commented on their relationship status. But Powell’s mom Cyndy Powell denies her son and Sweeney are an item, calling the romance rumors “silly.”
“They’re definitely not together,” she told The Daily Mail on April 1. “[There is] nothing going on behind closed doors.”
“We love Sydney. We’ve considered her just a really, really good friend,” she added. “We all were together so much, and we haven’t seen her in a long time. She’s really a friend and we all enjoy her.”
The ‘Euphoria’ star says she and Powell ‘have so much fun together’
The Euphoria star has previously addressed gossip about her relationship with Powell. She admitted that the pair played up the flirty vibe while promoting their enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy Anyone But You.
“It’s a rom-com,” she told Variety in 2023. “That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker.”
“They want it,” she added, speaking of fans who were convinced the pair were together. “It’s fun to give it to ‘em.”
