Viewers barely had time to stream the first episode of Meghan Markle‘s Netflix series With Love, Meghan before it was announced the streaming service had season 2 on deck. However, Netflix has yet to confirm if Meghan and Prince Harry’s contract has been renewed. What happens next?

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s Netflix deal hasn’t been renewed…yet

As 2025 began, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle faced the end of their five-year contract with Netflix. Thus far, the couple has produced/starred in Harry & Meghan, With Love, Meghan, Live to Lead, Polo, and Heart of Invictus. Only the couple’s docuseries and Meghan’s lifestyle show were relatively successful projects.

However, as of March, Netflix has not revealed details of a new production contract with Harry and Meghan. The couple signed their multi-year deal with Netflix in September 2020.

Perhaps the streamer was waiting to see if there was any interest in Meghan’s lifestyle series before moving forward with a new contract. It’s worth noting that their contract is up around the same time season 2 of With Love, Meghan drops.

If Meghan and Harry lose their Netflix deal they lose a substantial income generator. It was reported that they couple earned $100M for their efforts over five years.

However, if Netflix believes they are worth a new contract, the couple could have bargaining power when it comes to a new bottom line. The publicity their projects generate is likely worth enough to Netflix to keep them on board as talent, whether or not their projects are as popular as hoped.

A Netflix insider told The Mail Online that Meghan’s lifestyle show is, “not a runaway success.” A new season does not mean the couple’s Netflix contract has been renewed, MailOnline’s source says.

Jaw-Dropping Decision Made Regarding Season 2 of Meghan Markle’s ‘With Love, Meghan’

The Daily Mail quoted a source at Netflix who revealed, “I know they filmed the shows back-to-back so in theory there is no second season it’s like with lots of Netflix shows it is already in the bag at the same time as the first one. What this does is allow edits to be made to the show from feedback from press and Netflix viewers.”

The source continued, “It’s clever and cost-effective.” However, the show has received poor reviews. This could hasten Netflix continuing to invest in Meghan’s brand, including her series and As Ever products.

The Netflix source concluded, “Netflix bosses are all worried now because they have invested a lot in the product line. They don’t know when and how to roll it all out’.”

Why would the streamer film two seasons back-to-back?

Filming two seasons of With Love, Meghan before the first season even aired suggests a mix of strategic planning on Netflix’s part. There are several reasons why the company may have taken that approach.

Netflix may believe in the show’s potential, banking on Meghan Markle’s star power and public interest to draw viewers. By committing to two seasons early, they could lock in production schedules and resources efficiently.

Ultimately, filming back-to-back seasons reduces costs. For this show in particular, the production company rented a home to film in. So it may have been logistically easier to keep the show in one space for an extended period instead of two separate taping times.

The streaming service may have preplanned to release the seasons closer together to sustain buzz, capitalizing on the initial hype surrounding Meghan’s project. They likely wanted to ensure they had enough content prepared to meet expectations.

With Love, Meghan season 1 currently airs on Netflix. Season 2 debuts in Fall 2025 as per a post on Meghan’s Instagram page.
