In September 2024, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was arrested on charges including sex trafficking and racketeering. The hip-hop mogul has denied every allegation, and more people have come forward in recent months to detail their alleged experiences with Diddy.

In December, a woman named Jay-Z in a lawsuit along with Diddy, saying Jay-Z sexually assaulted her at a VMAs after party back in 2000. She later dropped the lawsuit, but now, Jay-Z is fighting back with a lawsuit of his own.

Jay-Z has filed a lawsuit against his accuser and her attorney, Tony Buzbee

Things for Diddy changed in September 2024 after he was arrested, and the accusations from people whom he’d invited to parties through the years started pouring in. Late last year, Jay-Z, who was supposedly a longtime friend of Diddy’s, found himself roped into the allegations as well when a woman accused both men of sexually assaulting her at an after party in 2000; she was 13 years old at the time.

But last month, the woman voluntarily dismissed the suit, dropping the charges against both men. Jay-Z, who maintained his innocence and vehemently denied the allegations — even directly calling out the unnamed woman’s lawyer — is now taking matters into his own hands. He filed a defamation lawsuit in March 2025.

According to CNN, in the lawsuit, Jay-Z accuses the woman and her legal team as “soullessly motivated by greed.” He also accused them of extortion and of trying to damage his “impeccable and lifetime-earned character.” Jay-Z’s lawsuit also said the woman knowingly admitted to her attorneys that the assault never happened, and he accuses Tony Buzbee, who represented her, of only trying to get money out of him. Buzbee has fought back, claiming that Jay-Z’s team was “caught on tape” trying to pay people to sue his team.

Jay-Z has denied a friendship with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

While this particular lawsuit was dropped against Combs, he still faces substantial accusations from men and women. Diddy’s trial is set to begin in May, but evidently, Jay-Z has completely dropped Diddy as a friend and ultimately denied that the two were ever close.

“Mr. Carter has nothing to do with Mr. Combs’ case or Mr. Combs,” Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, told Us Weekly following the allegations from Jane Doe late last year. “They knew each other professionally for a number of years. Just like in all professions, people know each other … That’s just how professions work. There is no closer association between any of them. That’s also a matter of fiction.”
