Jenelle Evans is known for her dramatic breakups. The former Teen Mom: The Next Chapter star has ended various relationships during her MTV tenure, and none of them were civil or quiet. Her most recent relationship with manager-turned-love-interest August Keen is gearing up to be the most dramatic yet.

While Keen and Evans have spent the last week on social media pleading their cases to the masses, Keen now admits he’s gone the legal route to split from Evans. The Las Vegas-based talent manager has officially filed for a restraining order.

Why did Jenelle Evans and August Keen break up?

Jenelle Evans and August Keen’s breakup wasn’t all that surprising as the affair began imploding as soon as it started. The details of the actual breakup and why they called it quits are a bit confusing, though.

Evans and Keen have unfollowed and refollowed each other several times on social media during their relationship. Social media movements in January 2025 suggested there was, once again, trouble in paradise. From there, Evans took to Instagram to post cryptic messages. Keen used his Instagram Stories to shade his ex with thinly-veiled memes.

Evans finally admitted the relationship was over, claiming Keen had cheated on her. A woman who claims to be Keen’s actual girlfriend also took to social media to say Evans was Keen’s “side chick” all along. Keen has not responded to those allegations.

August Keen has filed for a restraining order

While the details of the breakup remain murky, legal action has been taken. According to OK! Magazine, August Keen (whose legal name is Daniel Miranda) filed for a restraining order against Jenelle Evans. Keen told the publication that he filed for an order of protection against Evans on Jan. 20.

He has called out Evans, claiming she’s a “dangerous” woman and has grown relentless in pursuing him since the former duo ended their relationship. Keen accused her of making false allegations and of “hacking” into his phone, which he sayss led to his decision to file for legal protection. He went on to say that the relationship was toxic.

Will Jenelle Evans stay in Las Vegas?

Now that her romance with August Keen is officially over, will Jenelle Evans plan to stay in Sin City? Sure, Evans insists she did not move to Nevada because of Keen. Still, there really is no reason for her to remain in the Silver State without him. After all, her reality TV career has stalled, her romantic prospects have evaporated, and she’s shelling out money on a rental home when she owns property back in North Carolina. So, will she be staying?

Evans hasn’t announced a move just yet, but she has made it clear she didn’t plan to stay in her rental property long-term. Even before the August Keen breakup, Evans revealed she didn’t buy much furniture because she didn’t want to move much when she vacated the Las Vegas property.

It’s safe to assume a move is in her future, but it’s anyone’s guess where she’ll go next. Evans is unlikely to swallow her pride and head back to North Carolina. She did consider a move to Florida at one point, so it’s possible that could still be in the cards.
