Taylor Swift fans thought she and Joe Alwyn were destined for marriage. However, the couple broke off their six-year relationship in 2023. Swift and Alwyn didn’t say much about their separation at first, but insiders alleged that the pop star and the actor had personalities that didn’t completely mesh. While Swift lived her life in the spotlight, Alwyn preferred complete privacy.
In June 2024, Alwyn opened up about his breakup with Swift to The Sunday Times.
“I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years,” he said. “That is a hard thing to navigate. What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it’s suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in.”
Alwyn never talked poorly of Swift, which might’ve helped his acting career. “Joe was very wise during their breakup,” a source told Life & Style. “He kept his head down and his mouth closed and focused strictly on his work. He didn’t give interviews about Taylor or do any social media rants; he didn’t even hit the like button on snarky posts.”
The source added that Alwyn was “uber professional” following the split, which assisted in a “much easier time for him within the industry.”
As for how Swift feels now, she allegedly has “no bones to pick” with Alwyn, as “she’s happily moved on.”
“He’s got proven talent and he’s proven he’s a class act; that goes a long way with the decision-makers,” the source concluded.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce seem like a better romantic match than Swift and Joe Alwyn. Kelce and Swift aren’t afraid to show off their relationship in the public eye. While they don’t hide their love, they also don’t divulge too much information to the media, establishing a perfect balance.
Kelce spoke on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast in June 2024 about maintaining privacy. Some listeners thought he might’ve thrown shade at Alwyn.
“You want to keep things private, but at the same time, I’m not here to hide anything,” Kelce said. “That’s my girl, you know what I mean? That’s my lady. So, it’s like, I’m proud of that.
