Kim Kardashian and Kanye “Ye” West’s split wasn’t just a tabloid spectacle; it was a high-stakes battle over the most important part of their lives: their four kids. From emotional court filings to very public clashes, the fight for custody between the reality TV mogul and the music icon was intensely scrutinized. More recently, West claimed that Kardashian doesn’t allow him to see his children. However, a source close to Kardashian says this isn’t the case. Here’s what’s going on.

Kanye “Ye” West continues to air his dirty laundry on X. The hip-hop star claimed that his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, doesn’t allow him to see their four children: North, 11, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 5. West and Kardashian were married from 2014 to 2022 and share joint physical and legal custody of their children.

“I HAVE TO SUPPRESS THE FACT THAT MY KIDS HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM ME AND EVERYONE JUST WATCHES,” West previously posted to X. “I need a plan to exercise my rights with my kids.”

However, a source close to Kardashian says West saw Saint, Chicago, and Psalm in mid-April 2025. Additionally, the source told DailyMail.com that West only ever asked to see North previously.

“Kanye has been in LA recently for a few months and didn’t ask to see the kids aside from North until a week before he was leaving again,” the insider alleged. The source added that West “can see the kids anytime he wants, there are no limitations, but Kim is very careful also to not put them in situations that are chaotic. Protecting her kids [is] first and foremost.”

In January 2025, West made headlines for seeing his kids for the first time in nearly four months. West spent the majority of his time with Bianca Censori in Japan. Photos showed him with Saint, Chicago, and Psalm at a 7-Eleven in Tokyo’s Ginza district.

Kim Kardashian won’t stand idly by if she feels Kanye “Ye” West is threatening the well-being of their four kids. In March 2025, Kardashian was reportedly irate when West released a track with both North and Sean “Diddy” Combs. Additionally, Kardashian removed North from a visit with her father when Andrew and Tristan Tate arrived.

A source told The U.S. Sun that Kardashian’s legal team planned to “take action” against West. This includes going for full custody.

“Her team is in crisis mode,” the source alleged. ” … It’s a pretty fast-moving situation. Kim is determined to get Kanye and his threats removed from her life; she says she can’t live like this anymore. So despite her fears and worries over it, she knows it’s her only course of action to protect her and her children.”
