Kanye ‘Ye’ West admitted that he ‘hates’ his album he made to redeem himself from his feud with Taylor Swift

Kanye “Ye” West continues to bring Taylor Swift back into the conversation in 2015. Swift and West have one of pop culture’s most infamous and enduring clashes, beginning with that unforgettable moment at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. West stormed the stage, interrupting Swift’s acceptance speech to declare Beyoncé more deserving. What followed was years of tension, temporary reconciliations, and reignited drama — most notably in 2016 when West released “Famous,” a track referencing Swift in a controversial lyric she publicly condemned.

The situation escalated after Kim Kardashian released edited phone call footage suggesting Swift had approved the line, only for the full video to surface years later, sparking fresh debate about who told the truth.

In April 2025, West took to X to give a surprising confession. “I hate My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Like haaaaaaate that album,” he wrote, according to HipHopDX. West’s fifth studio album was released in 2010 and came with rave reviews.

“I made Dark Fantasy out of fear and to prove something,” he continued. “It was like ‘coming back from the Taylor Swift moment.’ I should have leaned in more.”

The Life of Pablo is waaaay better than My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,” West added, referring to his 2016 album. “Go song for song.”

Kanye “Ye” West and Taylor Swift are embroiled in drama in 2025. Swift was willing to put her past with West behind after their years of beef. However, West brought her back into the spotlight by making claims about her sex life. Now, Swift allegedly feels like she’s “left with no other option” but to seek legal action.

“This time he has gone too far,” a source told DailyMail.com after West’s defamatory statements. “His claims are not just false, they are defamatory. This isn’t just [West] gossiping. This is [West] sexually harassing a woman, defaming her, and intending to cause harm to her and to her career.”

Travis Kelce felt protective of Swift after West’s comments. “Taylor’s clearly upset, and Travis is obviously supporting her,” the source added. “There must be consequences. West would never dare say this to her face.”

The rapper explained how he put himself ‘in a zone’ when writing ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’

Kanye “Ye” West might hate My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy now, but he didn’t always talk poorly of the album that many consider his best. West discussed the album in the 2012 documentary/musical, Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap.

“I didn’t write my raps down for the first four albums,” West admitted. “I just did it from my head, straight to the booth.” However, his process changed with My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. “On this last album, on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, I wrote it. I really put myself in a zone that I felt like my life was dependent on the success of this album.”

“With that being the case, it said, ‘You know what? No matter what anybody says about me … I can write something that makes someone that hates me the most have to really respect and love the song,” he continued.
