Tensions are rising between Kim Kardashian and Kanye “Ye” West. New reports suggest a potential custody battle could brew in 2025. They previously made an effort to maintain a stable co-parenting relationship post-divorce. However, sources close to the former couple note that Ye’s online activity has caused friction. Ye recently tweeted about possibly fighting for full custody of his children. However, he also made a surprising confession about how he believes Kardashian saved their oldest daughter, North West.

Kanye “Ye” West and Kim Kardashian have been at odds in 2025. Kardashian was reportedly “disgusted” by Ye’s decision to feature their 11-year-old daughter, North, on his new track with Sean “Diddy” Combs. The reality star had previously trademarked North’s name to protect her from unauthorized use. And she attempted to block the song’s release by sending legal paperwork to Ye. Ye responded defiantly, threatening a public confrontation.

Additionally, Ye alleged in March 2025 on X that “Kim Kardashian is a sex trafficker.” He accused the Kardashians of sex trafficking “all of the Black children they strategically produce.” Additional tweets show Ye threatening to go for full custody of his and Kardashian’s four kids. They share North, 11, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 5.

In April 2025, Ye offered surprising praise for Kardashian. “Kim saved North’s life I wasn’t ready to have a child and she made sure North made it to this earth and I will always give her credit for this,” he posted to X on April 23, 2025.

However, that same day, Ye wrote that he was speaking to “four lawyers a day” regarding his kids. “I’m speaking to four lawyers a day until I find a lawyer who will make sure my rights to my children are realized,” he posted.

Kanye “Ye” West’s outrageous online activity has Kim Kardashian concerned for the well-being of their children. Sources told TMZ in March 2025 that Kardashian considered heading to court to strip Ye of joint legal custody.

However, another source told DailyMail.com that Kardashian has greater concerns if she tries to take the kids from Ye.

“Kim has never wanted to stop her children seeing their father,” the insider explained. “She thinks it is important that he is in their lives, as she was close to her own father before he died when she was just 23. But Kim is fearful that if she goes into full-blown war with Kanye and reopens the custody issue, he will make her life a living hell and weaponize the children against her.”

Kanye “Ye” West has a special bond with North West. North has expressed admiration for her father’s hands-on parenting style, noting that he doesn’t rely on nannies or chefs, and even lives in a modest apartment — a contrast to her mother’s more luxurious lifestyle. Their bond is further exemplified by their collaborative work in music. North co-wrote and featured on the track “Talking” from Ye’s 2024 album, showcasing their shared creative endeavors.

Ye’s dedication to North is evident in his public statements and actions. In January 2025, he posted a now-deleted photo of North to his Instagram showing them making music together for her album and his album, Bully.

“This little girl made me love music again,” he posted, according to Billboard. “She asked me to make beats for her I got back on the ASR Chopped up beats for her album and chopped every beats with my bare hand for BULLY [sic].”
